Suggested format for preparation of Project Report for

Bachelor of Engineering
1. Arrangement of Contents:
• Cover page (Appendix – I)
• Title page (same as cover page)
• Declaration(Appendix – II)
• Certificate (Appendix – III)
• Certificate by the examiners (Appendix – IV)
• Acknowledgement (Appendix – V)
• Abstract
• Table of contents (Appendix – VI)
• List of figures (Appendix – VII)
• List of tables (Format Same as Appendix – VII)
• List of abbreviations(Format Same as Appendix – VII)
• List of Symbols(Format Same as Appendix – VII)

2. Description of the work (to be divided into following chapters)

Chapter – I : Introduction
Chapter – II : Literature Review (includes Problem
Identification)
Chapter – III : Methodology
Chapter – IV : Results & Performance Analysis
Chapter – V Conclusion & Scope of further work

References (papers and books cited)

Bibliography(referred or read)
Appendix (If any)
CD/DVD (containing the executable file(s) of the project should be enclosed in the last page.

3. Report dimension & Binding specifications:

The dimension of the project report should be in A4 size and must be Hard cover
binding.

4. Paper & typing dimension

The report should be typed in one side of the paper only. Whole of the report (except the
cover and title page) should be typed in Times New Roman Font with a font size of 12,
justified and a line spacing of 1.5. Left margin 3 cm, Right margin 2 cm, top margin 2.5
cm and bottom margin 2.5 cm to be maintained. In case of mathematical expressions
Equation editor is to be used.
Each chapter should start at a fresh page with a heading of the chapter (Appendix – VIII).

5. Pagination
Each page must have a number designation, page numbers should not be mentioned in
the title page, acknowledgement (they will be counted)and cover page of each chapter.
All pages must be numbered consecutively as follows:

1
• Lower-case Roman numerals (i.e., i, ii, iii, iv, v, vi, etc.) are to be used for preliminary
pages. The numerals should appear at the right bottom of the page, approximately 1 cm
above the bottom edge.
• Arabic numerals (i.e., l, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc.) are used for the body of the project. The
numerals appear in the right bottom corner of the page, approximately 1 cm up from the
bottom edge and 1 cm in from the right edge.
• Material inserted after final typing should be numbered as in this example: 21, 21a, 21b,
etc. This expedient should be used sparingly.
• Appendices and the References should be numbered consecutively with the rest of the
thesis.

6. Caption of figure & tables

Caption of figures and diagram should be provided at the bottom (center) of the figures
and diagram and caption of tables should be provided at the top left of the table. Figure
and table numbers should be in tune with the chapter numbers (e.g. the first figure of
chapter I should be numbered as Fig. 1.1, first figure of chapter 2 should be numbered as
Fig. 2.1 and so on.)

7. References (Appendix–IX)

8. Guard Sheets
A blank white page (Preferably thick) must be placed at the beginning and end of the
report.

9. CD/DVD (containing the executable file(s)) of the project should be enclosed in the last page. It
should also contain project report (pdf format) and all related material to Project.

10. Each chapter should contain its conclusion.
