REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS (Ref. Fig. 1) A. Instructions Before Repair NOTE : - Before repair embodiment, ensure that sub-structure is exempt of any damage and the repair can be applied as defined. - This procedure is applicable only if no existing repair is already performed in the same structural area. In case a repair already exists in the same structural area, please contact the manufacturer before any further action. - Any deviation to this repair must be reported to ATR. (1) Install aircraft in hangar. (2) Perform requized access within the cabin (at toilet compaztment). B. Repair Procedure (2) Preparation (a) Identity the area te ke repaized. (b) Check and select repair materials (Refer to REPAIR MATERIAL Table). NOTE : Use material and ingredients recommended. REPAIR 'B36126-300-801-A0T ~ Page oct 01/16 AR 2 ‘ATR42~400/500 - STRUCTURAL REPAIR MANUAL For material alternatives (Refer to SRM 51-30-00 (MATERIALS, ALTERNATIVES AND EQUIVALENTS - GENERAL) « For fastener alternatives (Refer to SRM 51-40-00 (ALPHANUMERIC FASTENERS - TNDEX)) « (c) Protect the zone adjacent to repair area with adhesive teflon tape. WARNING : KEEP SOLVENT AWAY FROM SOURCES OF FIRE, SPARKS OR ANY HEAT SOURCE. THEY CAN CAUSE AN EXPLOSION. WEAR APPROVED GLASSES AND, IF WORKING IN CONFINED AREA, USE VENTILATION OR RESPIRATORY MASK. AVOID ANY CONTACT WITH EYES OR SKIN. (@) Clean the area to be repaired with Solvent (Mat. No.11-003E) (Refer to SRM 51-21-52 (COLD CLEANING WITH SOLVENTS IN LIQUID PHASE). Repair (a) Remove existing sealant and fasteners invelved in the area to be repaired (Ref. Fig. 1). Taking care net to damage heles. (b) Perform DVI and HFEC Rototest Inspection (Refer to NDIM 51-60-00) of the existing holes te confirm absence of crack, corrosion or any other discrepancy. If any, contact ATR. CAUTION : IF REQUIRED, A METAL SHEBT CAN BE PLACED UNDERNEATH THE CUTTING AREA TO AVOTD DAMAGE ON THE STRUCTURE BERTND. (ce) Cut out the damaged skin (Ref. Fig. 1). Prevent any damage to the underlying structure. (a) Break sharp edges 0.2 mm (0.008 in.) x 49°. WARNING : KEEP SOLVENT AWAY FROM SOURCES OF FIRE, SPARKS OR ANY HEAT SOURCE. THEY CAN CAUSE AN EXPLOSION. WEAR APPROVED GLASSES AND, IF WORKING IN CONFINED AREA, USE VENTILATION OR RESPIRATORY MASK. AVOID ANY CONTACT WITH EYES OR SKIN. (e) Clean and degrease the skin cut-out edges with Solvent (wat. No.11-0038) (Refer to SRM 51-21-82 (COLD CLEANING WITH SOLVENTS IN LIQUID PHASE) ) . (2) Perform Eddy Current Inspection (Refer to NDTM 51-60-00) on skin cut- out edges to confirm absence of crack or any other disczepancy. (g) Touch up cut-out with Chemical Conversion Coating (Mat. No.13-002), Primer (Mat. No.16-Q01C) (Refer te SRM 51-21-17 (CHEMICAL CONVERSION COATING TREATMENT OF ALUMINIUM ALLOYS)) and (Refer to SRM 51-21-27 (EXTERIOR TOP COATS - GENERALS). (a) Manufacture doubler (Item 1) and shims (Items 2 and 3). NOTE : - For doubler (Item 1), adapt doubler according to the A/C Profile (Ref. Fig. 1). - For shims (Items 2 and 3), to be adjusted at installation. No.11-0038) (Refer to SRM $1-21-52 (COLD CLEANING WITH SOLVENTS IN LIQUID PHASE)) Perform Eddy Current Inspection (Refer to NDTM 51-60-00) on doubler (Item 1) to confirm absence of crack or any other discrepancy. Touch up doubler (Item 1) and shims (Items 2 and 3) with Chemical Conversion Coating (Mat. No.13-002), Primer (Mat. No.16-001¢) and Tep Coat (Mat. No.16-016 } (Refer to SRM 51-21-17 (CHEMICAL CONVERSION COATING TREATMENT OF ALUMINIUM ALLOYS)) and (Refer to SRM 51-21-27 (EXTERIOR TOP COATS - GENERALS). Accurately position and clamp the repair parts doubler (Item 1) and shims (Items 2 and 3). Check that the repair parts accurately fit with the structure (Ref. Fig. 1). NOTE : For shims (Items 2 and 3), adjust to ensure a correct installation (Ref. Fig. 1). If shims are reworked, touch up as per para. 2.B. (2). (1). Mark off existing hole positions on doubler (Item 1) and shims (Items 2 and 3) of the existing structure. Temporarily remove doubler (Item 1) and shims (Items 2 and 3). Drill 2.5 mm (3/32 in.) Dia, Pilot holes at each marked position. Drill all holes to the final proper diam: x (Ref. Fig. 1). Deburr the holes. Perform a wet installation of components with Sealant (Mat. No.09-002F) or Sealant (Nat. No.09-016C) in interposition by using relevant fasteners (Refer to SRM 51-22-02 (GENERAL METHOD FOR SEALING)) and (Refer to SRM 51-25-00 (ASSEMBLING, SETTING AND FASTENER INSTALLATION/ REMOVAL = GENERAL)) Apply water repellent compound to inhibit corrosion (Refer to SRM 51-21-32 (CORROSION INHIBITING COMPOUND PROTECTION) } . Mark the new repair parts (Ref. Fig. 1) and (Refer to SRM 51-28-04 (IDENTIFICATION OF MANUFACTURED PARTS FOR RSPATRS)) « (3) Close-up CAUTION : MAKE CERTAIN THAT WORKING AREA IS CLEAN AND CLEAR OF TOOLS AND MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS OF EQUIPMENT.
