Background: WHO recommendations oblige to improve communication patterns when

performing operative (handover) must use strategic standards using SBAR communication

methods, in which efforts to reduce patient safety problems can be carried out in accordance with

patient safety effective SBAR communication .

Objective: To determine the relationship of workload with the implementation of effective

communication with the SBAR method when weighing the patient (handover) in the inpatient

room of H. A. Suthan Dg Radja Hospital in Buukumba Regency in 2019.

Design: This research is a quantitative type of research through an observational analytic

approach with a cross-sectional design. The total sample of 48 people from all populations of

nurses in inpatient plamboyan and seruni in H. A. Sulthan Hospital Dg Radja Bulukumba

Regency with sampling techniques using non probabiity sampling. data processing using Chi

Square Test for trend with significance value α <0.05.

Results: There is a relationship of workload with the implementation of effective communication

with the SBAR method when weighing the patient (handover) with a value of P = 0,000 <0.05

then Ho is accepted and Ha is rejected where the heavy workload of nurses can affect the

implementation of effective communication of the SBAR method. effective while the light

workload of nurses using effective communication of the SBAR method becomes more effective

at the time of patient acceptance (Handover).

Conclusion: there is a relationship of workload with the effective communication of the SBAR

method.
