Long Distance Relationships: How to Make it Work?

Almost everyone has _____________________ (1) a long distance relationship in

their lives. Yet, very few people can really have a successful long distance relationship. Yes,
long distance relationships have advantages and disadvantages but that does not mean that
it is entirely out of the options.

One of the advantages of a long distance relationship is that it gives time to get to
know one another slowly and build and develop a strong relationship. You don't have to be
around the person all the time and see all their habits and routines that can get pretty
repetitive. Another advantage of a long distance relationship is that there isn’t always
enough time for _____________________ (2). This is because even if you have problems,
you would not want to spend the time you have together arguing.

However, a _____________________ (3) disadvantage of a long distance relationship

is that you don't have eye contact. Therefore, you may not be able to
_____________________ (4) what you really mean. At first, it might be difficult, but in time
you can find a balance and be happy together. It is true that long distance relationships can
get very _____________________ (5) and it is difficult to make it work sometimes, yet there
are several things to do to have a successful long distance relationship.

First of all, try to see each other as much as possible. When you meet, always make
sure that you do a lot of activities, visit lots of fun places like museums, parks and the
movies.

Secondly, send your partner something special every once in a while. It could be a
_____________________ (6) or a letter that you have written. Make sure you send
something that will show to your partner that you _____________________ (7) him/her.
And if he/she sends you a letter, do not forget to _____________________ (8) to it
immediately. Otherwise, he/she might think that you don’t care enough about him/her.

Always _____________________ (9) the good things about your relationship. Think
about the good times you’ve spent together _____________________ (10) of the days you
have felt sad and lonely because he/she wasn’t there with you.

Of course people are going to tell you that long distance relationships are no good.
Don't believe it. Have faith in yourself, have faith in your partner, and believe in your heart
that you can make it work.
