Re: Catherine Hancock
To Whom It May Concern:
Catherine Hancock was an elementary teaching intern in Granite School
District for the 2017-18 school year. | had the privilege of serving as Catherine's
intern supervisor during that time. | was also her instructor for several graduate
courses during this period. This recommendation is based on my extensive
experience with Ms. Hancock
Catherine had the opportunity to teach prior to becoming an intern and it
was evident from the beginning. She has excellent teaching skills and has a
wonderful rapport with her students, creating a respectful atmosphere. Ms.
Hancock is particularly strong in classroom management and runs an effective
learning environment. Many of her strategies have become so automatic that
she creates a very respectful and comfortable atmosphere. Ms. Hancock is very
organized and creates solid lessons for her students. | have observed how her
sixth-grade students connect with her and follow her directions.
Catherine works very hard and is always prepared. If something in her
classroom is not working, she adjusts her teaching to be more successful. She is
very reflective and asks very solid questions to analyze every situation and works
way beyond her scheduled time to be prepared. Catherine makes every effort to
be an excellent member of the team and works well with other individuals to
accomplish their goals. This year she has also exhibited solid skills for working
with parents.
It has been a great pleasure to assist Catherine Hancock in developing
her skills as an elementary teacher. | consider Ms. Hancock a solid teacher with
exceptional skills, many beyond the expected level of a first-year teacher. | give
her my highest recommendation.
Sincerely,
John H. Funk
