The researchers start to search a plant that rich in saponins, tannins and flavonoids for us to come to our

target study which is a plant extract as termites repellent.

Finding some related studies that can support our expected result for our study.

The researchers found the plant that can produce an extract of the following chemical components;
Saponins, tannins and flavonoids (Cogon grass).

The researchers start to gather the materials that are needed for our research experimentation.

One of the members bought 100% methanol alcohol at amesco drug Davao City.

The researchers began searching for the plant (Cogon grass).

When the researchers found the plant the researchers clean it well with the use of clean water and wait
until it dry.

The researchers cut the plant in small pieces in order for the plant to produce more extract, and then
the researchers soak the plant in 700ml 20% water and 80% methanol alcohol as a preparation process
for oil bath method the final process of extraction. But the first attempt failed because methanol alcohol
is still present in the cogon extract.

The second attempt proceed, still what we do in the 1st process of extraction has been followed the
difference is just we extend the time of the oil bath method for us to get the absolute extract.

The researchers began searching for termites to be use in the experimentation, but the researchers
consume a lot of time in finding termites because it’s very rare to find.

Phytochemical method proceeds as a validation of flavonoid, saponins & tannins.

Experimentation begin, we divide our treatment in to 4 with 3 replicates each treatment have their
different chemical composition/ extract to be apply. Each treatment has different mass of coconut wood
but in 1 treatment the 3 replicates have the same mass of coconut wood.

The coconut wood will be soaking into the assign chemical or extract to be used.

Preparation of termites and coconut wood container, each container contains the same number of
termites and an assign coconut wood soaked in a particular chemical/ extract.

Everyday the researchers monitor what happen to the wood and termites in each treatment.
