SRRRIEERRRRRREGEG ¢ Theseus & the Minotaur ° A nytt from Ancient Greece A long time ago on the Greek island of Crete, tnere lived a king named Minos, Even though he was the king and had everything he wanted, sometimes he got bored Whenever he was bored, he would order his navy to attack the town of Athens, The king of Athans offered a deal to King Minos to stop attacking his town. He would give 7 girls and 7 boys From Athens each year to be eaten by the Minotaur The Minolour was a scary monster thai lived in a maze on Crete, King G Mines loved the monster, and he liked to feed it children, so he accepted the ) deal ¢ When it was time +0 send the children to Grete, Prince Theseus from Athans decided to try and defeat the Minctaur so that “he chilgren wouldn't have to ¢ be eaten He disguised himself as one of the 7 boys and went to Crete to do, and she decided to help nim. She gave him a sword anda ball of ¢ string. She told nim to use the string as a guide so that the would be able to ) get back out of tne maze, and to use the sword to kill the minotaur In ) exchange, she wartad the prince to tak? her away with nim so thet others ¢ could admire her beauty The princess of Crete figured out who Theseus woe and whet he was trying @ The next day, when it was time for the children to be eaten, the king threw ) them all mio the maze anc locked the door. Theseus tied the and of the string to the door and tole the children to stand by the door and make sure ¢ that the string did not come untied. He found the Minotaur and killed him, and the children, Theseus, and the princess all ran back +o the Athenian ship 4o sail back to Athens. 3) On the way home, they stopped for supplies on the island of Naxos. The princess grew borsd on he island, so she fell asleep Allthe people of Naxos gathered around and odmired the beautiful sleeping princess.
