To Whom It May Concern:

It is with great honor that I write this letter of recommendation for Kara McKinley. I have known
Kara throughout her high school years, but have had the privilege of having her as a student
over the past two years in my Literary Analysis and AP Literature classes.

Kara is truly an amazing young woman who has great integrity and pride in herself. She has an
outgoing, friendly personality and greets me everyday with a smile. Her rank at the top of the
class is a result of her intelligence, perseverance, and work ethic. As a literature student, she
has a very mature perspective on the literature we read and contributes great ideas to our class
discussions. Kara also has very detailed, flowing writing that improves with each essay because
she continually seeks feedback, never accepting less than her best. Her skills are already at the
college level and I know she will be more than prepared for the demands of her English classes
next year.

In addition to Kara’s rigorous course load, which includes three AP classes, she is also involved
in numerous extra-curricular activities including soccer, Spanish club, Youth Advisory Council,
and the Senior Class Board. On numerous occasions Kara has been selected by her peers and
advisors to take on a leadership role and I can’t think of a better person for the job. Kara has
earned the respect of her peers, possesses great time management and organizational skills,
and never gives up until the job is done. Kara also pursues other talents outside of the school
setting including being a ski instructor and earning her certification as a SCUBA diver. This
young lady continually proves that she can accomplish anything she sets her mind to and no
dream is too big for her.

Kara is a remarkable young lady who has proven herself to be intelligent, hard-working, and a
leader. She has created a strong camaraderie with her peers and takes every opportunity to be
a role-model for the students at Tawas Area High School. Kara is deserving of any award or
honor bestowed upon her and will be a wonderful addition to any university she chooses. If you
