Student employs precise mechanics for proper performance of throwing and cradling.
Assessment Task:
Students will cradle while jogging (about 5 steps) and throw to the target properly

Criteria for Competence: Level 3

Throwing
Usually assumes throwing position stance
a. Wide stance with non-dominant foot forward
b. Knees / Hip slightly bent
c. Upper body slightly twisted to dominant hand side
d. Facing Forward
Usually contacts ball in proper position
a. Non-dominant hand grabbing the butt of the stick
b. Dominant hand grabbing near head of the stick
c. Shaft resting on finger pads
d. Dominant hand loosens grip
Usually executes throwing with proper mechanics
a. Use the basic grip
b. Hold stick at ear level on the dominant side of body
c. Shoulder pointing towards target
d. Hand follow-up through
Cradling
Usually assumes cradling position stance
a. Wide stance side to side
b. Non-dominant hand grabbing the butt of the stick
c. Dominant hand grabbing near the head of stick
d. Thumbs pointing to the head of stick
Usually contacts ball in proper position
a. Place non-dominant hand at the end of stick
b. Place dominant hand slightly below the head of stick
c. Grip and wrists loose
d. Place head of stick at ear level
Usually executes cradling with proper mechanics
a. Use the basic grip
b. Keep your hands and wrists loose
c. Move stick up and down between chest and ear level
d. Turning wrists in swinging motion

Assessment Rubric: Student will perform 10 repetitions of each skill indicated by observer.
