Electricity is very important in our daily lives. With the speed of

modernization, societies have now the solution to solve the problem. Non-

renewable energy, such as fossil fuels, continues to be the biggest source of

energy. Recently, programs of developed nations have emphasized the

importance of renewable energy in finding solution not only to power supply but

also to the problems caused by climate change. As an archipelago, Philippines

has rivers, waterfalls, and lakes that can be the source for hydropower. The

primary concern of this paper is the use of natural resources, specifically the

river. The study is embodied to minimize the pollution of the environment.

Findings of this study could be a solution for the people who don’t have

electricity and for the people who are near in rivers but didn’t reach by the

electricity (Brian Kit B. Casiño, 2013).

The use of micro- hydropower as a source of energy can help to supply

electricity in the community. It is important to know if the community is near in

the river and the possible impact of this to the community. This study seeks to

determine the acceptability of the people in establishing the micro-hydropower

project in Calamba, Laguna, Philippines. A survey is conducted among 400

household to know their awareness and knowledge about micro-hydropower and

their thoughts about the impacts of this to the community. The result of the

survey is positive that it has no conflict. The results also emphasize three major

considerations by the community in accepting the project: reduction of future

electricity costs without investment cost on their part; increase economic and

social benefits; and community participation. The respondents are willing to

participate in stakeholder of consultations, information campaigns, and in the

actual making or construction of the project (Karen Ann B. Jago-on, 2018).
