Why?

It's a shame because the people, the team that I am working with and the guys we support are
incredible. The experience we are living there each day teach you new stuff all the time. Amazing.

It's a shame because Achieve Together, the company we work for is neither incredible nor
amazing.

They believe that a bit more than the minimum wage, £8.3 p/h is a dignified wage for support other
people life, that the amount of responsibilities you deal with each moment are well paid for that
money.

They think it is a reasonable money for the job we do 24/7 365. Helping learning disability people
to develop new skills, to reach as much independent as possible, being their mouths, their hands,
their eyes, their foots when it is required. Set up and achieve new goals, desires. Their lives. The
company thinks that it is not necessary to pay extra money to staff during weekends, neither at
night time, nor bank holidays, they believe that the service users holidays are holidays for the
support worker as well and they reject the responsibility of paying their workers, us, for the whole
time you spend with the service users, which should include the whole night. They expect us to be
happy and equal-effective working during 16 hours a day If the basic wage is not enough to end up
the month. They make us feel force to take extra shifts time if there is not enough staff to do the
activities with the service users, they make us feel responsible if the service users missed an
activity cancelled by lack of staff. They want us to be happy, patience, effective, chefs, cleaners,
proactive, doctors, empathic. Why they do not empathise with us, why the company do not support
their workers, why the company generate precariousness for the workers, putting them at risk of
losing their homes after not being paid if they need an urgent surgery or if they break their arm and
are not able to go to work for few days.

I do not want to be part of a company that takes advantage of its workers.
