INTRODUCTION
In 2008, the Ministry of Education developed a Sustainability Education Framework
(www.bced.gov.bc .ca/greenschools/sustainability_ed.htm) that encourages the K-
12education system to show leadership in adopting and promoting environmentally
sustainable practices, and learning opportunities for students that support healthy and
natural environments for current and future generations.

Our schools are great places to start life-long education about the environment and living
sustainably. In our schools, students can participate with our communities to reduce our
greenhouse emissions. We can guide the next generation toward environmental
responsibility, diverting waste and conserving resources.

Sustainable Schools provides information for your school to reduce its footprint and
energy use, as well as providing great resources to promote environmental awareness to
school youth.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Green Team: Conserving, developing and implementing creative, effective, no-or low cost
sustainable practices for Marinduque National High School is a project that engage and
inspire students from Marinduque National High School to care and be educated about
taking good care of their environment. As each of the class presidents makes a team that
forms objectives that enhance the student’s awareness to conserving resources and
reducing wastes. This project will be implemented at start of the school year 2018-2019
to present.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The Project aims to conserve, develop and implement sustainable practices for
Marinduque National High School. As, developing and creating a team for maintaining,
developing and conserving resources.

Specifically, the project aims to:

 Promote environmental stewardship
 Support and demonstrate environmental sustainability
 Reduce waste
 Directly relate to ecological issues

THE PROJECT PLAN & DESIGN

The phase one (1) starts with organizing the team that consists of presidents of each
class. Once the team is formed they would define their objectives that they will use
throughout the design and construction phases for guidance, decision making and
evaluation of the project. The objectives should be reviewed before applying it. An
objective-based comprehensive approach is a more success strategy. The organization
needs to review their goals and send it to the school administration for approval. A
collaborative process that gives its members an opportunity to provide input into the team
is critical to the success of the team. When team implements their unique objectives to
the school, the progress can be tracked and the changes can be understood and
explained by all members.
