Basic Forms and Present Tense

Dictionary Base Present + Present -
-ru verb (1) 「+る」 Dictionary: -る る -> ます る -> ません
-u verb (5) 「+(u)」 Dictionary: -(u) (u) -> (i)ます (u) -> (i)ません
Stem
-ru verb (1) -る *Italicized letters indicate the change only occurs
-u verb (5) (u) -> (i) in the represented sound of the hiragana syllable.

Past Tense
