STEP 1: Cross out 1. This is neither prime nor composite.


STEP 2: Except for 2, cross out all the multiples of 2.
ie. cross out 4, 6, 8, 10, 12,…..,96, 98, 100
STEP 3: Except for 3, cross out all the multiples of 3.
ie. cross out 6, 9, 12, 15, ……..,93, 96, 99
STEP 4: Except for 5, cross out all the multiples of 5.
ie. cross out 10, 15, 20, 25,……..,90, 95, 100
STEP 5: Except for 7, cross out all the multiples of 7.
ie. cross out 14, 21, 28, 35, …….84, 91, 98
ALL THE NUMBERS NOT CROSSED OUT ARE PRIME
