Report to Other Staffs

How to address the elderly

It is desirable that the caregiver remembers the elder’s name, and calls him/her

by surname, such as Suzuki san, Sato san. In some cases you are allowed to call

them おじいちゃん(grandpa), or おばあちゃん(grandma), however, you should be

careful in using these titles because some may feel uncomfortable or as though

they are being treated as a child.

When you are faced with situations which cannot be handled alone, or is

concerned about a certain situation, you will need to report to your supervisors or

other staff members, in Japanese, as soon as possible. The following expressions

are useful in verbal reporting.

How to ask when you don’t know something

When you report an elderly’s unusual / emergent condition to your supervisor, you

can use the following expressions:
