Happening this
week in class…

This week we are

talking about
Comprehension!

Comprehension is
understanding
what one is
reading, the
ultimate goal of
all reading
activity.

Here are some activities you can do at home to practice with Comprehension…
Activities:
 Read books aloud: this will allow your child to read slower and process what
they are reading
 Play board games: Playing games allows for children to be able to read the
directions and comprehend what they read to play.
 Cook or bake a recipe: Have your child read the recipe and use these
instructions to make the recipe.
Apps:
 Popplet: students create popplets that can be filled with text, drawings,
images or videos about what they have read.
 Question Builder: this helps children learn to answer abstract questions and
create responses.
 Inspiration Maps: This helps children visually organize information and ideas.
 Kidspiration Maps: This can be used in all subject areas and includes an image
to text conversation feature.
