Topic
1. Understanding of the topic

Etymologically the word “topic” comes from the greak word,


topoi which means “place”. This means something that has
been determined and limited. Topic means the main topic or
subject matter
2. DETERMINING GOOD TOPICS
Good topics requirements are
 The topic must attract the attention of the author
 The author asks to understand or understand his scientific principles
 Don't be too new, don't be too technical and don't be too
controversial
 Helpful
 Don't be too broad
 The topic chosen must be bypassed us
 The topic chosen must be interesting
 The topic chosen is limited.
 The topic chosen has objective data and facts
 The topic chosen must be known by its scientific principles. the topic
chosen is not too new
 The selected topic has a reference source

5. The Criteria Of Topics
  There are five the criteria of topics, such as:
l
l 1. The topic must be in accordance with the background knowledge of the
author. Make sure that the topic that you want to discuss is really
mastered by the material.
l 2. The topic me according to your interests. Topics that interest you will make
you are interested in down. Also, if you are interested in writing them, it will
certainly make you excited about looking for references.
l 3. Topics must interest the reader. It’s useless to write something that doesn’t
make people interested to read it. Although someone’s interest in reading
must be related to the background knowledge. However, if you write
something new, exotic, offer other alternatives, arouse curiosity, get someone
emotionally involved, and this exotic thing will attract people to read it.
l 4. Topics must be supported by other references. A topic that does not yet
have at all a (reference) or other supporting material will be very troublesome
for yourself, for that, as far as possible avoid such topics first.
l 5. Topic must be limited in scope. Topics that are too broad will make it
difficult for you and will take up a lot of your time. After all, your conversation
will not be focused. This will make your writing look wordy.
6. How To Make A Good Topic
l 1. By place: certain countries are more specialized than the world: Jakarta is
more limited than java. The topic “Java before Indonesia is independence”.
l 2. According to time/ period/ era: “ Indonesia Culture” can be specialized as “
Sculpture in the Hindu Kingdom Age.
l 3. According to the casual relationship: “Moral Decadence in Young and
Young People” can be narrowed down to “Basics of the Emergence of Moral
Crisis in young and Young People”
l 4. According to the division of the fields of human life: political, religious,
artistic,… and so on.” The Government’s efforts in the Economy can be
specifically designated as “ Deregulation Policies in the Economy During
Change”.
l 5. According to the specific aspects of the general: individual-collective: ”The
influence of television broadcasts on Tanidi East Java” can be narrowed down
to “The influence of boyolali Television Broadcasts.
l 6. According to material objects and formal objects. Material objects are the
being discussed; Formal objects are the angels from which we review material,
for example: “Indonesia Literature (material objects) judging from the angel of
language style (formal objects). Leadership Viewed from the angel of
Formation of New Cadres; Family Planning in terms of religious Aspects.
