• Killed 60 people and displaced hundreds of

• Heavy-rain induced (Typhoon Ising)
• Caused by:
1. Unfavorable 8° dip angle of the rock
layers to the southwest.
2. Intense fracturing of the rock mass due
to its proximity to the Binangonan Fault.

Guinsaugon (2006) in Southern Leyte


• Twenty survivors were rescued, but the majority
of the village’s population was believed to have
been buried by the avalanche.
• Has a planform width of 1.52 kilometers
• Caused by:
1. Excessive amount of rain
2. Earthquake recently (Southern Leyte on
17 February 2006

Little Kibungan (2009) La Trinidad, Benguet


• 77 people died
• For six years, it has been declared as landslide-
prone
• Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB)
• Triggered by the Typhoon Pepeng

Payatas Trash Slide (2000) Payatas, QC.


• 100 shacks and huts, which were home to
around 800 families.
• Landslide with garbage and rubbish.
• Believed to have a death toll to 500
• Consequently, a fire happened later.
