Lesson Week Scoring Guide

Science

Objective: TSW complete a handout during Weather Tables that is specific to a certain type of
weather. They will share their information when it is their turn.

Rationale: The formative assessment that was chosen for the science lesson in kindergarten was a
handout about different types of weather (snowy, rainy, windy, sunny). The handout allows the
students to express through drawing and writing what types of clothes they would wear for the
specific type of weather, what activities they can do in that type of weather, and any tips or
advice they may have for being in that weather. This handout will be completed individually at
the student’s tables. The chart below shows the student data and correctness for the three areas of
the handouts. All of the students completed the same handout.

Mathematics

Objective: TSW be given a Ten Frame and Number Rack materials to display a horizontal line of
the ten frame evenly.
Rationale: The formative assessment that was chosen for the mathematics lesson in kindergarten
was an assessment on using a number rack correctly to represent the number of dots shown on a
ten frame. The teacher demonstrated use of the number rack at the beginning of the lesson. The
students were given opportunities to practice as an entire class and individually on their own.
Every student was given the same exact materials to perform the assessment. The students have
background knowledge using ten frames and counting one to one from 1 to 10. The chart below
shows the student data and correctness for just correct completion of the assessment.

Language Arts
Objective: TSW complete a picture re-tell about the story that was previously read to them using
the illustrations from the book.

Rationale: The formative assessment that was chosen for this lesson was a picture re-tell. The
students were read a book and then they were individually worked with to complete a re-tell
using certain pictures from the story. They were asked to explain what was happening in the
pictures first, and then place them in sequential order. Every student was given the same
illustrations to place into sequential order. Some students needed more verbal cues and
explanations. The chart below contains data that displays the results of each student progress
when placing the pictures in sequential order. Some of the students were able to place all five in
sequential order. Other students would mix up two or four.

Social Studies
Objective: TSW complete an Exit Slip that requires them to draw an authority figure in three
different settings; home, school, community.

Rationale: The formative assessment chosen for the social studies lesson was a handout that
required the students to draw/write about authority figures in three different settings. The three
settings were at home, in school, and in the community. All of the students were given the same
handout. Some of the students were able to write more than other students. Each student shared
their work and talked about what they drew. The assessments were collected for further review.
