Dear Mr. Russo:

When I heard about the summer internship at your local business, I was more than happy to
apply for it. I have really been looking forward to working alongside you and taking in whatever
you teach me because I would love to be an engineer when I am older. I would be a great help to
you because I have taken an hour of CAD each year throughout highschool, I am a smart well
rounded individual, and I also believe the best jobs to have are hands on like this one.

The first main quality that makes me right for this job is that I have an understanding of what
engineering is about and what we will be doing on a day to day basis. I am currently in my fourth
year on the CAD program and I have made everything from basic shapes and lines to fully
furnished house plans, interior and exterior. I have had an A in this class every year and it
doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon because I love the concept of becoming an engineer.
Another skill that would make me a perfect fit employee for you is the fact that I have a very
good work ethic. I have been working legally ever since I could when I was 14 and it doesn’t
seem to be going away from me anytime soon. I feel as if I always have to spend the majority of
the day working in the summers rather than sitting around and doing nothing. I love being active
and won’t want to stop working until the job is done. I believe that I am the best candidate for
the job because I am already on track to becoming an engineer in college regardless. This
internship would put me a step ahead of my peers heading into college and it would be a great
opportunity.
