Solve each problem.

1. The radius of a circle is increasing at 10 cm/min. (a) How fast is the circumference of the circle
changing when the radius is 25 cm? How fast is the area of the circle changing when the radius
is 8 cm?

2. Air pumped into a spherical balloon at a rate of 450 cubic centimetre per minute. How fast is the
radius of the balloon changing when r = 10 cm?

3. The surface area of a spherical melting snowball is decreasing at a rate of 2 square centimeter
per minute. Find the rate at which the diameter is changing when the radius of the snowball is 5
cm?

4. A water tank (inverted cone) with radius 4 m and height 8m. If the water is pumped in at the
rate of 4 cubic meters per minute, find the rate at which the water level is rising when the water
is 6 meters deep? (Hint: )

5. A cylindrical tank with a radius of 10 meters is being drained. The fluid is being drained from the
tank at a rate of 2.4 cubic meters per minute. At what rate is the fluid level inside the tank
changing?

6. An automobile traveling at the rate of ⁄ is approaching an intersection. When the

automobile is 100 meters from the intersection, a truck traveling at the rate of ⁄ crosses
the intersection. The automobile and the truck are on perpendicular roads. How fast is the
distance between the truck and the automobile changing two seconds after the truck leaves the
intersection?
