Synergy, is the interaction or cooperation of two or more
organisations, substances, or other agents to produce a combined
effect greater than the sum of their separate parts. In the natural world, Synergistic phenomena are ubiquitous, ranging from physics (for example, the different combinations of quarks that produce protons and neutrons) to chemistry (existence of all compounds) to the cooperative interactions among the genes in genomes, to socially organised groups, from honeybee colonies to wolfpacks to humans. According to the Synergism Hypothesis, synergistic effects have been the drivers of cooperative relationships of all kinds and at all levels in living organisms. Human Synergy relates to human interaction and team work. For example, say a person A alone is too short to reach an apple on a tree and person B is short as well. Once person B sits on the shoulders of person A, they are tall enough to reach the apple. A song is a good example of human synergy, taking more than one musical part and putting them together to create a song that has much more dramatic effect than each of the parts when played individually. If used in a business application, Synergy means that team work will produce an overall better result than if each person within the same group were working towards the same goal individually. And hence the group should outperform even its best individual member.
