ANN KAPP ANDERSEN

After living in Europe for seven years, Ann and her
husband, Thayne have returned to the States and are settled
in the resort town of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. Ann continues
teaching piano students and stays busy as the Music
Chairman for Arimo Idaho Stake and the Relief Society
Pianist for Lava Hot Springs Ward.
Ann has published dozens of musical works, including
pieces for choir, solo voice, piano, and many instrumentals.
In 2008 She collaborated with writer Deborah Morris on
a new musical version of Jane Austen's popular novel,
"Pride and Prejudice" which debuted in August 2008 at the
Scera Theater Outdoor Shell in Orem, Utah.
Ann earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano
Performance (1989) as well as a Masters Degree in
Conducting with showmusic emphasis (1997), both at
University of Alaska Fairbanks. Additionally, she served as
accompanist or orchestra director for twenty-five shows with
the Fairbanks Light Opera Theatre. She has held music
callings in the Church her entire life.
Ann and Thayne have two children, Kyle and Amy; and if
you've got a minute, Ann would love to tell you all about
her five grandchildren.

JANICE KAPP PERRY

Janice Kapp Perry was born in Ogden, Utah, raised in
Vale, Oregon, and currently lives in Provo, Utah. She and her
husband Douglas have five children and 13 grandchildren.
Through the years they have also had many foster children.
Janice received her musical training at Brigham Young
University in Provo and has been writing and recording
gospel music for the last 30 years. She composed the hymn
As Sisters in Zion for the LDS hymnbook and several songs
in the Primary songbook. She has served as Relief Society
President in her Provo ward and retired from singing with the
Mormon Tabernacle Choir in 1999.
In 1994 Janice received the Exemplary Woman award
from Ricks College. In 1997 she received BYU’s
Distringuished Alumni award. In 2001 she received the
Lifetime Achievement award from the Faith-Centered Music
Association.
The Perrys served a full-time mission to Santiago Chile
and a three-year church service mission in a Spanish ward in
the Provo Utah South Stake. Janice composed music to
President Gordon B. Hinckley’s poem, “What Is This Thing
That Men Call Death” which was sung by the Mormon
Tabernacle Choir at his funeral.
