Week 2
This week you researched stop motion animation
We have research different aspects aspects of animation, such as
the history and Oscar award winning animation produced, I found
out that companies such as Aardman And Leika has won Oscars
for their animation. Also the first ever stop-motion animation was
called humpty dumpty circus by Albert E. Smith. I found out just how
many different materials you can use for stop-motion animation
After experimenting with different materials, I used materials such as
Lego, I enjoyed working with Lego because it was very easy to use
and I liked the effect it created after the frames were put together.
An issue I found with using Lego was that when I wanted the figures
to walk I found that difficult. The second material I used was clay, I
really enjoyed working with clay because I love the way it looks
once it is edited, also I love the different expression and emotions
and individually you are able to give your characters. An issue I
found when I was using clay was that sometimes the clay started
ripping and falling apart if I stretched the clay to much this difficult.
The last material that I used with small figure, from the monopoly
board game this was my least favourite material to use because I
found it boring as it didn’t make the overall project very exciting
because it was still. However It was very easy to use.
I made 3, 5 second animation clips, using Lego, clay and small
objects. After using all of these and working with them I discovered
that I enjoyed working with clay the most, I think this because I
found it easy to work with, I enjoyed how I was able to give the
character emotion and different expression with using the clay. I
found with clay that you are able to make the character walk
faster.
I am on track this week, although I need to complete my strict.

I found it useful, when doing my animation, as it. Was good to have
a guide to follow, I. thought. It was useful have clear idea and in.
my mind on paper, also so I can stay on track whilst filming, by
having to follow whilst filming really help. Alough I had to change
my plan for my animation slightly when doing it as the project. I
had. Set myself was. to ambitious.
I found clay rather difficult. To work with as it. Took so. Look. To.
Make. The. Clay puppet beforehand, this took a lot of time,
ordinally. I was going to make 4 different clay. Figure after realizing
it took so much time to just. Make one, I decide to make just. 2,
another. Problem I faced was that because I. different have. The
proper amauror for the. Puppets. They feel apart a lot thought. The
process, this was a big issue.
The frame rate I had set myself was to ambitious once again 24
frames per second, also I don’t think it would have look. Right for
me. Animation, so I did a frame rate of 5 frames. per
second,alought this. Is. Much small it worked out. Way better for my
animation.
Overall, I would say. My animation was ok,I think my biggest
problem was spending so long making the puppets and building
the. Set and my idea being to ambitious, Im happy that being using
mouth on my puppets it really looked alought he was talking, I feel
aslought this part was successful.
I filmed my whole animation outside the lesson aswell as making the
puppets, and doing the set, all my. planning I. did in the. Lesson
I am mostly on track this week alough there are a couple of things I
need to sort out
I need to complete my final evaluation.
