Student Growth

In the chart above you will see the students growth through this unit. It shows their prior
knowledge in blue and their knowledge of what they learned at the end of the unit in green. You
can see that students are at varying points, but they all learned and grew throughout this unit.
One observation I made was that there were 17 students that scored over 90% and this showed
us that 51% of students in the class demonstrated deeper learning. Another observation I made
from this chart was that student’s that scored higher on their pre-assessment tended to score
higher on their post-assessment. This makes me wonder if some of these students needed
more concrete experiences in their learning to have more prior knowledge to pull from. You may
also see that students three and eleven are two students who may need extra support, or
maybe the project was something they struggled with. After teaching this unit I met with them,
one on one, and we discussed their projects. I offered extra credit opportunities for these
students to learn ideas that they missed in their post assessment and it offered an opportunity
for them to bump up their grade. Although students are in many different places, I think it is
important to note that each student learned throughout the unit. We need to see the growth in
each student.
