"all i can hear is my mistakes"
that right there is a true organist. incredibly humbling when you get to hear
yourself after a recording. i tend to rush through my pieces, need to remind myself
to calm down

That guy is crazy good. All four limbs working independent things? I can't whistle
when I walk.

I was extremely lucky to play this organ, even for just a few seconds. There's
little that can compare to it.

This is so great to watch. I friggin love it. My knowledge of pipe organs has
greatly improved, and I love the down-played humor/under-acting. It may be aimed at
kids, but this would be fun and informative for anyone to watch

Wow, when the Boardwalk Hall organ gets rebuilt, it could become a tool for
demolition ! Those old pieces from the 1800s...no wonder so many old photos show
only faces void of happiness. If the churches played like that too....fire and
brimstone all the way!

Don't despair! If you have some piano background, try to imagine what you would
play on the piano and then do the same on the organ. The key notes will have the
same arrangement as on a piano except you have to hold the key down in order to
continue hearing the sound. Try playing more notes starting with middle "C" and go
up the scale C D E F G A B C. You have now completed the C scale or C octave!
Simple wasn't it? You could also play the black notes or sharps going up and going
back down the scale often called "flats".
If this helped any, try finding some basic organ instruction books at a music store
or better find a piano or organ teacher. Ask at church that has an organist or
piano teacher.
Let me know if this helped at all.

Good luck!
PS:
I started with piano and organ when I was 8 years old!!

Wow! Alan Morrison's two episodes on Mister Rogers' Neighborhood helped launch the
love of pipe organs in our family, and now this! What a fabulous resource. We shall
reference it widely. Thank you.

The pipe organ at the end of Ghost's song I Believe is one of my favorites. It's
nothing complex, but the sound is phenomenal.
