The Promotion of Peace
The Promotion of Peace
488. Peace is founded on the primary relationship that exists between every human
being and God himself, a relationship marked by righteousness (cf. Gen 17:1).
488. Peace and violence cannot dwell together, and where there is violence, God cannot
be present (cf. 1 Chr 22:8-9).
494. Peace is a value [1015] and a universal duty [1016] founded on a rational and
moral order of society that has its roots in God himself, “the first source of being, the
essential truth and the supreme good”.
494. Peace is the fruit of justice.
494. Peace is also the fruit of love.
