The Promotion of Peace

 488. Peace is founded on the primary relationship that exists between every human
being and God himself, a relationship marked by righteousness (cf. Gen 17:1).
 488. Peace and violence cannot dwell together, and where there is violence, God cannot
be present (cf. 1 Chr 22:8-9).
 494. Peace is a value [1015] and a universal duty [1016] founded on a rational and
moral order of society that has its roots in God himself, “the first source of being, the
essential truth and the supreme good”.
 494. Peace is the fruit of justice.
 494. Peace is also the fruit of love.
