Newmark explains that in transference the SL word is transferred

completely without any changes.

The following is the example which is taken from a novel entitled

"Saman":

SL: ... apalagi melengkapi upacara penyambutan tamu-tamu sultan atau


turis keraton.2

TL: . . .and we definitely don't want to be called upon to perform for the
sultan or the tourist visiting the palace.

From the example above, it can be seen that the cultural lexicon "sultan"

can be simply replaced with the same word or lexicon in the TL text

which is aimed to keep the culture so that the translation becomes

natural.

b. Naturalization

This strategy adapts the SL word to the normal pronunciation then to


the normal morphology (word-forms) of the TL. The following are the
examples of this strategy:
