CHAPTER 3

METHODOLOGY

This chapter present the method and procedures of the study. It includes the research design,
respondents, research instruments, data gathering procedure, and the statistical treatment for data
analysis.

RESEARCH DESIGN

The study utilized a description correlation method. It determined whether there is any
significant relationship between Speaking Skill of grade 11 students and their Oral Communication in
Lamian National High School

RESPONDENTS OF THE STUDY

The respondents of the study is in a sectioning of grade eleven that was selected in Lamian
National High School for academic year 2019-2020

RESEARCH INSTRUMENT

The research instrument used was the essay speaking test developed by the researchers which
focused on the levels of cognitive and affective domains. It was validated to ensure its correctness and
appropriateness. The questionnaire was used to determine the speaking skill of grade 11 students in
their oral communication in Lamian National High School.

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURES

The researchers asked permission through a letter to the president of the school to conduct the
study among grade 11 students in Lamian National High School, upon the approval, the researchers
asked permission from the teacher for the schedule to administer the test.

STATISTICAL TREATMENT

The data gathered from the grade eleven student in Lamian National High School were analyzed
and interpreted with the following statistical tool.

To determine the speaking skills of grade 11 students, weighted means was used.

To determine the significant relationship between the speaking skills of Grade 11 student in oral
communication in Lamian National High School, respondents.
