For my inquire question, I asked “how does college pay off?” My cousin stayed in the
United States for 15 years. She went to college in the United States and later graduated with a
major in business. However, she did not choose a job in business. She chose a job that had
nothing related to her major. That means the major you choose in college is not always related to
your final career. That’s why I began to think what’s the value of going to college besides
learning career skills. My inquire question is a common problem among future students and
college students. When I was in the last year of high school, I began to think about this question.
Not only me, many of the college students think that college can only help you find a well-paid
job. I was confused about what can I get pay off for going to college until now. That’s why I
want to inquire more about how does college pay off. I want to know and write the valve and pay
off of going to college. I don’t know much about my subject because I was confused too. But I
know that when I was in high school, I discussed it with my classmates. Most of them generally
thought that college can help you find a great job included me, but someone also thought that
internship is the important reason that people go for college. I found the resources that other
authors inquire the question on the Atkins Library. I have found the title like “Will college pay
off?” and “Is college worth it?” The key word I can generate related are higher education, value,
worth, pay off, and future. I might look next for more perspectives at the Atkins Library research
system. I will look for the database websites to search more articles and books’ information for
my question. I can enlarge my question to the whole U.S. because this is a common problem in
U.S. Because the US college system is different and the costs are known for being expensive, so
I want to include compare with community college of the difference. Many college students
across the U.S. must be wondering as well. The specific questions are occurring to me now are
“Why the internship worthwhile for students in college?” and “Can colleges make us more
integrated into society?” My inquiry question is important to my classmates and the larger
UNCC community because it can help them to understand what’s the real value for study in
college.
