THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction

The researchers of this study aims to help working areas such as the Municipal Government of

Taytay to have a high level of security. This thesis entitled “Arduino Based Employees Attendance

Monitoring and Entrance Security Sensor” is also a way of implementing the proper record of attendance of

employees for effective functioning of organizations. It is also a way of securing the working area through

the use of entrance security sensor by detecting the deadly weapons that may harm people whom will enter

the government municipalities.

Biometric Identification Systems are widely used for unique identification of humans mainly for verification

and identification. Biometrics is used as a form of identity access management and access control. So use

of biometrics in student attendance management system is a secure approach. There are many types of

biometric systems like fingerprint recognition, face recognition, voice recognition, iris recognition, palm

recognition etc. In this project, we used fingerprint recognition system. A fingerprint is an impression left by

the friction ridges of a human finger. The Attendance finger print is a way to scan the finger print of a

person and to encode his / her time in and out. This will serve to integrate the scanner as both the Login

and the Master password, it is also a way of securing the area because with their biometrics the security

personnel will detect if the person is really an employee or not because it is the only passage to enter the

working area. This technology used for the security purposes and for the assurance of the user.

This device Millimeter wave scanners or simply, Arduino Body Scanner detects objects on a person's body

for security screening purposes, without physically removing clothes or making physical contact. The

operator may see an alternate-wavelength image of the person's naked body or merely a cartoon-like

representation of the person with an indicator showing where any suspicious items were detected. For

privacy and security reasons for the employees entering in the employees entrance, and in some cases it is

located in a separate room where the operator cannot see the face of the person being screened. The

Arduino Body Scanner scans dangerous things that are not allowed in working areas like municipalities for

safety purposes. A suspicious materials like deadly weapons, bombs, drugs and other things that may put

people danger will be highlighted by a red circle all over the spotted area that a employee puts suspicious

thing inside his/her body. This red circle warns the operator to check the suspicious person. The Arduino

body scanner device has a barrier that is set to allow the person to pass or not.

The person will log in as an employee through his fingerprint and then Arduino will going to identity if it is an

employee or not, and the Arduino will command full body scanner to operate if the person is really an

employee. The system will automatically display a naked like image of that person being scanned in the

monitor of the operator and then it will be display in the monitor in the server area. Then Arduino will

highlight the harmful things or object through the use of a red circle that will warn the operator. The

advantage of this Arduino body scanner technology is to assure the security and protection of the site being

powered by a company most especially the Municipal Government of Taytay. This emphasizes the

importance of being secured at all times of the company or government municipalities. Every person that

enters in this technology can be secured also. This Arduino body scanner technology is to prevent harmful

activity that may cause destruction to the people inside the facility.

Problem of the Study

With the current issues and problems of working areas such as the Municipal Government of

Taytay, Rizal, below are the goals that the study aims to achieve when it comes to the manual operation of

attendance and low security.

For Employee, Government Municipality Management

1. Employee enters their working area with the use of their ordinary employee ID.

2. Needs to develop a software system that deals with Government Municipal of Taytay, Rizal

Management Software.

3. Crime activity increases in working areas.

4. Security guards are always at the risk of hurting themselves.

General Objective

The main objective of this research study is to have an effectively manage attendance of employee

through the use fingerprint scanner and have a high level of security in working areas for detecting

suspicious objects in Municipal Government of Taytay, Rizal.

Specific Objectives

Specifically, this study aims to:

1. Develop a system that could provide Municipal Government of Taytay, Rizal an electronically

monitor based attendance system for employee.

2. Implement an Attendance Monitoring System for Municipal Government of Taytay, Rizal

3. Develop a technology for higher security system.

4. Installing security system effective in detecting covered devices.

Significance of the Study

The research entitled Arduino Based Employees Attendance Monitoring and Entrance Security

Sensor will benefit the Municipality of Taytay Rizal that can help the following:

Employees. The daily time record will be précised, and less error on recording that will ensure salary

computation for their attendance is correct. And they feel safer and more secure at work, thus removing

distractions that can undermine their productivity.

Municipal of Taytay Rizal Management. Easily check the employee and faculty attendance for their total

number of hours work for payroll.

Clients / Visitor. People may appreciate knowing that place is secured. They may feel safer and more

secure.

Researchers. It will help to understand merely how this project works and can contribute to Municipal

Government of Taytay Rizal

Future Researchers. This serves as an important resource for enhancing the knowledge and

developmental skills using the Arduino based sensor and its application based on the needed requirements

for software development.

Scope and Delimitation

The researchers focused on the development of attendance management system using fingerprint

identification. And improving security system of employees in working places by having a higher level of

security system using walk in full body scanner for detecting suspicious objects and be highlighted by a red

circle all over the spotted area.

However, power interruption and internet failure will be the main cause why the system fails during its

operation.

 This study shows the importance of Input Process Output (IPO) model as a guide to support the

study. All the inputs are important to gather the objectives of the study. Checking, verifying and collection of

sample test are included to identify possible errors and defects. Evaluation will be useful to check the

desired components and requirements to make the system.

Operational Definition of Terms

Finger Prints. It has a patterns made of an arrangement of ridges on the tip of each of your finger.

Finger Prints Scanner. It is a type of technology that identifies the fingerprints of an individual in order to

access to a computer system

Arduino Board. It is a tool for making computers that can sense and control more of the physical world

than your desktop computer. It's an open-source physical computing platform based on a simple

microcontroller board and a development environment for writing software for the board.

Database. It is an organized collection of data. The data are typically organized to model aspects of reality

in a way that supports processes requiring this information.

Operator. The man in charge, the man who watch over the server.

Attendance Monitoring. Students must attend all teaching activities necessary for the pursuit of their

studies, undertake all associated assessments and attend meetings and other activities as required by their

School or the University. Where students face difficulty in attending sessions or undertaking assessments.

Biometric. It is used to identify individuals for body measurements and calculations. It refers to metrics

related to human characteristics.

Millimeter Wave Scanner. It is a whole-body imaging device used for detecting objects concealed

underneath a person's clothing using a form of electromagnetic radiation

Full Body Scanner. It detects objects on a person's body for security screening purposes, without

physically removing clothes or making physical contact.
