Associated Learning Standard(s): The resource may be generally applicable, if so, simply state that. List any ISTE-S standards that
seem to naturally align with the selected resource.
Generally the source is pretty applicable, as it is a collaboration tool in which students can add their own
thoughts and viewpoints with each other.

7b: Students use collaborative technologies to work with others, including peers, experts or community
members, to examine issues and problems from multiple viewpoints.

RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the technology/resource.

Stormboard is an Internet application that allows people to express their thoughts on a topic/issues. It’s
works like a poster sheet paper, where students can take a marker and write down their thoughts. You can
make comments on the virtual sticky notes, and the notes may be anonymous to others, but the creator will
know who said/sent what. There are also educational templates available.

INTEGRATION IDEA - COLLABORATION

How might you integrate this resource in a lesson plan to promote collaboration among students in your classroom, or among
students and others outside of the classroom?

This can be used in terms of homework, or as an opening to a discussion. There is also a phone app that
goes with the website as well, which makes it more accessible for students. As homework, they can simply
post their thoughts on a controversial issue in a book, cite/reference to evidence, and discuss with their
peers through chat. Additionally, they have many educational templates such as mind maps, essay planning
etc. which would be a great tool to use for assignments.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION
● Based on the “value-added rating scale” above, how would you rate the technology integration you described, using the
selected resource?
● Explain your rating based on the rubric indicators.

I would rate this a 2.5. It isn’t something that you can replace the lesson by, however, it can change the
dynamic of the lesson. It provides an outlet for students to present their issues and thoughts, which allows
them to see different perspectives to the topic being discussed. Students are probably going to be more
engaged as they can use computers and phones (things that they love and are used to using) so they can
have fun with the application. I think it is possible to use this tool in a way where most of the lesson is used
on this application. For example, there is an essay planning template where students can plan their essays. I
can assign a workday, where they pull the information, plan their essays and share their Stormboard to me
where I can review, chat, and discuss their templates.
