General This guide covers recommendations for installation, operation, and maintenance of transformers. Please read this guide thoroughly for safe and most effective use of the transformer. ‘This book serves as a guide. If the transformer is to be operated in extreme and/or hazardous conditions, please contact PT. Trafoindo Prima Perkasa for more specific recommendations. 2, For Your Safety 2.1. The transformer is to be placed and used in high voltage electrical networks. of electrical hazards. 2.2. When transporting the transformer, please use titing equipment suitable to its weight. The transformer weight is displayed on its name plate. 2.3. When handling the transfomer, please use safety ares as necessary, such as: safety shoes, helmet, gloves and goggles. 2.4. When in operation, the surface of the transformer tank may be hot. Please take the necessary precaution. 2.5. Before touching the transformer in operation, please make sure that the transformer tank is property grounded. CAUTION: © DE-ENERGIZE THE TRANSFORMER BEFORE PERFORMING ANY MAINTENANCE OR SERVICE WORK. = INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE SHOULD BE PERFORMED ONLY BY EXPERIENCED AND QUALIFIED PERSONNEL ACCUSTOMED TO WORKING WITH SUCH ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. 3. Receiving the Transformer 3.1. Tank & Radiator Assembly Units are shipped in one of the following arrangements: (1) Welded radiators, tank fully-filed with oil, or: (2) Detached radiators, tank filled with oil, with additional oil shipped separately. Preliminary Checking of the Transformer Upon arrival of the transformer at your site, inspection must be made for any signs of damage inccured during shipment. In particular, the following items should be inspected: (1) Check the condition of the transformer tank. Make sure there is 10 leaks, cracks or damages. (2) Check the adequateness and conditions of the transformers accessories. If equipped with porcelain bushings, check for cracks, chips, and leaks. (@)_ Check the transformers oil level through the oil level indicator/gauge. Oil level should not be lower than the level line marked on the indicator/gauge. (4) Cheek the tightness of al bolts and nuts, and make sure that all valves are tightly dosed, (6) Check the phase marks on the terminals. Check the sequence of the phases and make sure they conform with the wiring diagram on the name plate. If there were irregularities or deviations, please contact your supplier or the ‘manufacturer (PT. Trafoindo Prima Perkasa). 4, Storage and Handling of Transformer 4.1. The transformer is constructed for both indoor and outdoor use, However, wherever possible, place the transformer indoors or at a sheltered location 4.2. For transporting the transformer, please use a forklift or crane suftable to its weight. If @ crane is used, ‘ft the transformer using the lifting lucs provided on the transformers’ sides. Lifting cables or chains should net ‘come in contact with the bushings or other devices. Whenever possible, four chains/cables should be used to prevent tipping of transformer. When a forklit or a crane is unavailable, some transformers are equipped with rollers which allow it to be pushed or pulled. However, care must be taken to keep the transformer at upright poston. 5. Electrical Inspection Prior to Installation and Connection of Transformer 5.1. Check the insulation resistance between the windings to earth and between the primary and secondary windings by megger test. Prior to the megger test, dean the bushing’s terminals. If the resistance vakues are relatively low, please follow these corrective measures: (1) Gean the bushings and their terminals thoroughly, using cleaning products if necessary. If leakage is found on the transformer tank, immediately contain the cil ‘pill by using containers. 11.2. When sampling/fitering the oi, avoid spills by placing containers under the valves. 11.3, After replacement, transformer oil must be property treated and disposed Of to avoid polluting the environment.
