CROMANZA S.A. DE C
Hydrostatic Test Procedure to |p" |
Power Piping Be, | nrdooe
Objective
Ensure that each vessel or part subject to pressure made by Cromanza, S.A. de C.V.
subject a pressure test (internal) for Code Power Piping Code ASME B31.1-2012,
Scope
This procedure applies to all equipment and parts of equipment (power piping) made
by Comanza, S.A. de C.V., operating under internal pressure.
Inspection before Hydrostatic test.
‘The Quality Control Manager in conjunction with the Authorized Inspector shall make a
general review of the materials with which the container is made (marks on the
material) to verify that they comply with the specification and has a traceability
‘observed where the material specification, grade, type and class. If applicable, as well
{a8 a review of radiographic reports, heat treatment and liquid penetrant.
Responsibititi
and procedure.
4.1 The production department is responsible for carrying out the hydrostatic
test in accordance with this procedure,
4.2 Both the shop and in the field of containers and parts to be tested should be
Placed so as to be assured that there are no risks (landslides, falls, ete)
When the fling with water.
4.3 As far as possible be used liquid of free of solid partices.
4.4 The position of the vessel or part under test should allow both the welds and
‘connections are accessible for visual inspection
45 The fluid shall be water unless there is the possibility of damage due to
freezing or to adverse effects of water on the piping or the process. In that
case another suitable nontoxic liquid may be used, I quid is flammable, its
flash point shall be at least 49°C (120°F), and consideration shall be given
to the rest environment.
4.6 When permitted by the Material Specification, a system hydrostatic test may
be performed in lieu of the hydrostatic test required by the material
specifications for material used in the piping subassembly or system
Provided the minimum test pressure required for the piping system is met.CROMANZAS.8.DEC.V.| Hydrostatic Test Procedure to |Ra"*")

4.7. The test equipment shall be examined before pressure is applied to ensure
that itis tightly connected. All low-pressure filing lines and all other items
‘not subject to the test pressure shall be disconnected or isolated by valves
or other suitable means,
5 Required Hydrostatic Test Pressure.
The hydrostatic test pressure at any point in the piping system shall not be less than
1.6 times the design pressure, but shallot exceeded the maximum allowable test
pressure of any no isolated components, such as vessels, pumps, or valves, nor shall
'texceeded the limits imposed by para. 102.3.3(8) The pressure shall be continuously
‘maintained for a minimum time 10 min and may then be reduced to the design
pressure and held for such time as may be necessary to conduct the examinations for
leakage. Examination for leakage shall be made of all joints and connections. The
piping system, exclusive of possible localized instances at pump or valve packing,
‘hall show no visual evidence of weeping or leaking,
102.3.3 Limits of Calculated Stresses Due to Occasional Loads (8) During Test.
During pressure test performed in accordance with para 137, the citcumferential
(hoop) stress shall not exceeded 90% of the yield strength (0.2 % offset) at test
‘temperature. In addition, the sum of longitudinal stresses due to test pressure and live
and dead loads at the time of test, excluding occasional loads, shall not exceeded
90% of the yield strength at test temperature.
6 Precautions at Hydrotesting
Equipment fabricated from austenitic (300 series) and ferrtc (400 series) stainless
steels and requiring hydrostatic testing should be tested with deionized water, high
purty steam by air blowing, swabbing, or other appropriate means. If immediate
draining and drying are not possible, hydro test water should be circulated in the
Piping for at least one hour daily to reduce the possibilty of pitting and
microbiologically influenced corrosion-condensate, or potable water, in decreasing
order of preference.
NOTE: Potable water in this context follows U.S. practice, with 250 parts per milion
maximum chloride content, sanitized with chlorine or ozone. After testing is
completed, equipment should be thoroughly drained with all high point vents open
during draining, and driedCROMANZA S.A.DECV.| Hydrostatic Test Procedure to |f""")

7 Report
‘Must prepare a written report (Exhibit No. 21, see below) when the test has been
carried out satisfactorily
When required to chart recorder during the hydrostatic test, install a pressure recording
equipment that meets the characteristics outlined in this procedure range.
It is recommended that all cards (graphic) are in appropriate range for the chart
recorder, however, you can use cards from different range provided when making
calculations and adjustments, and these are listed and signed on the card
‘The chart recorder will be placed as close to the gauge used to check pressure.
Depending on the type of chart recorder is allowed to exist a check valve between the
‘equipment or part subject to testing and the recorder.
Cards should be dated, signed and must be traceable to project number equipment or
parts subject to the test,
8 Personnel
Personnel conducting testing and Quality Control Inspector must demonstrate
knowledge of risk and safety conditions that must be followed during hydrostatic
testing
Its the responsibilty of the Construction Manager before starting the test, the staff is
aware of the test pressure, time of pressure test and quality water composition.
