@) es have two way of drivethe square drive and the pin drive, There are heavy, medium and light-duty according to type. The main technique specification a6 follows: ] 7 | 1 Suitable for Kelly ‘Type Way of Drive Model Square Hex. Square Drive HDS 26 3-6 Heavy 27-HDP 3-6 3-6 Pin, Drive 20-HDP 3-6 3-6 MDS Deaths ‘Square Drive RYMd 3-44 Medium 20-MDP 24h 3.4% Pin. Drive nt 17-MDP 3-44 Lightduty | Square Drive RTSS ahaad ty 3-4 *, Structure: The Roller Kelly Bushing is made up of upper body half, lower body half, roller pins, roller assembles, bolis and grease fitting, sec Figure 1,(RTM4) as} ay BAS tata | feral x ae fmeG Tie — ee Figurel There are four raller assembles inside the Kelly bushing and the ail nylon bearings are assembled inside the roller assembles, The roller assembles are tighted between the upper body half and the lower body half: There are thrust washers to prevent liquid from permeating in two ends of the roller assembles, The roller pins are tighted by four bolts ,The moment of foree of the bolt is 1500ft.Ib. =. Installation The Kelly drive bushings must be engages in the rotary, the order as follows: & 3 (1) Put upper body halfin Kelly. (2) Put lower body halfon rat bole. Fit four big bolts 1.5-8UN . (3) Stab kelly inte rat hole through bottom half. (4) Fit oil nylon bearings, roller pins and thrust washer into rollezs, and presse full (5) Put roller assemblies in lawer bady half. (6) Lower the top half the kelly bushing, aligning it with the locating pin, and let bolts 1.58UN pass through the holes of upper body half. (7) Install lockwashers and nuts, then tighten alternately until secure. The moment of foroe must get up to 1500816, ‘The way of installation see Figure 2 E FITTING THRUST RASHER ROLLER: ASSEMBLES Figure 2 UY. Inspection and Maintenance Figure 3 nal to the amount of (1) The amount of driving surface on the kelly is inversely propor slack present between the roller and the face of the kelly. IF there is only 1/16 ineh (1.6mm) clearance between the roller and the kelly, the driving surface of the kelly will be wide and with the driving forces spread over this wide area, wear will be minimal. However, if the roller to kelly dimension were 1/4 inch (6.3mm). The driving surface would then be considerably reduced. So that the clearance between the drive rollers and the kelly should be checked. Force soft metal between the roller and the belly Mat surface, The clearance should be not more that 1/8 inch (3.2mm). (Q)During » Kelly bushing inspection, the roller assemblies must be checked. The maximum wear is 1/16 inch (1.6mm) for a hex Kelly and 1/8 inch (3.2mm) on rollers for a square kelly, Only half the life of the roller assembly in Figure 3 has been used. The roller assembly must be turned 180" degrees in the body at this time. 3 (3)Kelly bushings have 1/8 inch (3.2mm)elearance between the top and bottom body halves, So that the top nuts can be tight. To check wear in roller assemblies, Place a bar under the roller and pry the roller up. The assembly should not move wpward over 1/32 inch (0.791). [f there is movement of the roller pin, the kelly bushing body bas journal wear, (ACheck to sce if top nuts ure tight weekly, and grease roller assembly daily at four fittings. (5)Check the bodyfand drive pins)for wear, If the above results of inspection are not more than the allowable valve, it may be used continue, Otherwise, It should be repaired or ceplaced,
