“A RESOLUTION REQUIRING ALL MOTORCABS FOR HIRE (MCH) TO

HAVE A LIST OF EMERGENCY NUMBERS IN THEIR VEHICLES”

WHEREAS, Dumaguete City has become an eco-tourism hub;

WHEREAS, the lack of awareness of tourists and the people of Dumaguete City of
existing emergency numbers;

WHEREAS, it is the goal of the City of Dumaguete to protect the public health, safety
and welfare;

WHEREAS, MCH are the common, if not the only, form of public transportation within
Dumaguete City;

WHEREAS, Section 458(3)(vi) of Republic Act No. 7160, otherwise known as the Local
Government Code of 1991, grants to the Sangguniang Panlungsod the power to
regulate the operation of tricycles within the territorial jurisdiction of the city subject to
the prescribed guidelines of the Department of Transportation and Communications;

WHEREFORE, be it resolve as it is hereby resolved, that all MCH shall be required to

have a list of emergency numbers in their vehicles;

RESOLVED finally, to furnish copies of the resolution to the office of the City Mayor,
PIO, and the Traffic Management Office to help inform the MCH on this additional
requirement.

This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its approval.
