THE PRESIDENT AND THE U.S.

2020 ELECTION
Americans are stressed and politics is a major cause, according to psychologists,
psychiatrists and recent surveys. A study published in September in the journal PLOS One
found that politics is a source of stress for 38% of Americans. “The major takeaway from
this is that if our numbers are really anywhere in the ballpark, there are tens of millions of
Americans who see politics as exacting a toll on their social, psychological, emotional and
even physical health,” says Kevin Smith, lead author of the study and chair of the political
science department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The study included 800 people
in a nationally representative poll and asked them 32 questions. – Sumathi Reddy,

The U.S. 2020 Presidential Election is not going to be pretty or civil if one is to make
a forecast based on astrological factors. Therefore, if you are the type of person who lets
politics (exact) a toll on their (your) social, psychological, emotional and even physical
health,” then you are likely to have one very large “social, psychological, emotional and
even physical” challenge ahead. In his first term, President Trump has done many of the
things that would lead an average president easily to re-election. The economy is sound,
people are safe and working, and small businesses can operate without the threat or
confusion of onerous regulations that were imposed on them during the previous several
years. However, as productive and successful as his term has been economically, it has
come at a cost psychologically. The collective psyche of the nation is mentally and
emotionally exhausted with the unpredictability, chaotic behavior, questionable unilateral
decision-making, and constant leaks by current and former White House staff people who
have either quit or been publicly humiliated to the point of being compelled to resign by
this president. The outer world may appear to be secure and stable, but the collective inner
world is far from it, and it is exacting a toll on the nation’s psyche. This is a reflection of
the leader himself, born under a lunar eclipse with the Sun conjunct the very
unconventional and erratic planet Uranus. He may be brilliant at times, but is not a stable,
calm genius as he proclaimed. Thus, the dilemma of the typical moderate American: do I
vote according to my newly secure financial status and career security, or do I vote
according to my need for psychological balance? How much am I willing to sacrifice of
my social and emotional sanity to continue this non-stop self-adulation drama? Am I
willing to give up these outward improvements in life for a more normal life experience?
Then again, is what the Democrats are offering going to really maintain or improve my
financial and career well-being? This is not going to be an easy election.

Astrologically, the second half of 2020 will find Mars in its ruling sign of Aries. It
turns retrograde on September 9, 2020, at 28° Aries, where it forms a square (90°) aspect
to the Capricorn stellium planets – Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto – from August through the
end of the year. This will cover the most intense part of the election season. With Mars (the
planet of combat, competition, and aggression), in Aries (the sign it rules, and hence
suggestive of more combat, competition, and confrontation), this does not bode well for
those who hope for a civil and respectful discourse. With Mars in a square aspect to Jupiter,
there will be no limits on hyperbole and exaggeration, for with Jupiter, everything is
magnified. In contact with Mars, anger and passion are both prone to excessive displays.
 It doesn’t end there, for Mars is also in square aspect to both Saturn and Pluto. This
arrangement can have a particularly hostile character if not managed well. Mars in a hard
aspect to Saturn is a classic war-like signature, whereas Mars/Pluto can get downright nasty
and brutal. The fight is to the bitter end, where the objective is usually to completely destroy
and dismantle one’s opponent. To say that each candidate has a healthy respect for the
other is just not very realistic. What is more likely is that each party – both candidates –
share a mutual hatred and wish to totally annihilate the other. The winner is usually the one
who can absorb the most punishment, the last person standing. As hostile and antagonistic
as the 2016 election was, the 2020 election is apt to be considerably more malevolent, just
based on the Mars square to Saturn and Pluto. The good news is that this is probably the
peak of incivility and bad manners in politics, for Saturn and Pluto will start separating
from their conjunction after 2020. As these two planets enter their waxing stage for the
next 16 years, the general mood of anxiety, discontent, and stress over political leadership
and the political process begins to lessen. These emotionally charged states tend to increase
when Saturn and Pluto are in the waning stages, peaking when they reach their conjunction,
January 12, 2020, +/- 18 months. We are at the cosmic peak of that pressure in 2020.

The fact that Mars is retrograde during the election, and even stationary (its strongest
position) as it turns direct on November 13 right in the middle of Aries, just ten days after
the election, is also a concern. Is it possible that there could be acts of violence during this
election season? It may be necessary to keep police forces and even the national guard on
high alert and ready for a call to action. Mars retrograde may also indicate a need to recount
ballots, especially those that were cast well before Election Day (absentee ballots). With
concerns about safety at the voting centers on Election Day, a record number of Americans
may opt to cast their ballots by absentee voting in 2020.

The possibility of a disputed election is further highlighted by Mercury ending its

retrograde motion and turning direct in Libra (sign of indecisiveness), exactly on Election
Day. Mercury rules numbers, news, and communications. When it is changing direction,
these factors often require revision. That is, the numbers or the news may need to be
adjusted as new information comes forth that invalidates the original projections, counts,
and news. Mercury also changed direction during the 2000 vote count, which led to the
recount in Florida in which George W. Bush, and not Al Gore, won despite the fact that
Gore had more popular votes nationwide. With Mercury stationary and also in a square
aspect to Saturn (delays) through November 6, it is possible that the final results are not
known until at least three days after the Election Day vote.

The Sun is also in opposition to Uranus, which was exact just three days earlier. This
implies the trend may suddenly change from favoring one candidate to the other in the last
days prior to Election Day. The message? The polls may get it wrong again, just as they
did in 2016.

ISSUES WITH FORECASTING THE 2020 ELECTION

There are several issues that astrologers must contend with in the art of forecasting a
U.S. Presidential Election result. These include:

1. Finding the correct birth data of candidates and the nation

2. Determining the correct charts that relate to an election result
3. Popular votes versus Electoral College votes
4. Personal bias

THE BIRTH TIME OF CANDIDATES

The first issue is the most important. The chart of the candidate shows his/her potential
for recognition or even victory. By progression and transit, it can indicate where one is in
their cycle of life. For instance, if transiting Saturn is low in the chart, e.g. near the Nadir
or fourth house cusp, as it was with the chart of Hillary Clinton in 2016 as used by this
author, this is not conducive to an elevation in one’s profession. On the other hand, if
transiting Saturn is near the top of the chart, near the Midheaven or tenth house cusp, it
implies one is likely to be near a peak in his/her profession. It favors victory in an election.
 Likewise, progressed aspects to one’s natal chart at the time of an election can indicate
success or difficulty. Success is denoted by progressed aspects from the progressed Sun to
natal planets, or to the natal Sun or Jupiter from progressed planets or angles. In 2016,
President Trump had his progressed Sun conjunct his natal Ascendant in late Leo, a cosmic
indication of great recognition. It is true that he gained much recognition simply by winning
the Republican nomination that year, and that could have been enough to satisfy this very
favorable progressed setup. But as it turned out, in combination with Hillary Clinton’s lack
of equally strong and favorable progressions (and a not-so-favorable Saturn transit), Trump
won the election via the Electoral College vote without the popular vote.

The issue, however, is that Hillary Clinton’s chart was never verified with a visible
birth certificate of time. President Trump, on the other, did have a birth certificate that
recorded his time of birth, and thus astrologers had accurate birth data by which to calculate
a correct horoscope. And only with that exact birth time could it be calculated that the
progressed Sun was conjunct his natal Ascendant in Leo, a strong indicator of victory.

This lack of accurate birth data, including birth time, may be an issue in the 2020
election as well. That is, the correct data for the chart of President Trump is known, but
astrologers may not have the complete birth data of the Democratic nominee. Without that,
astrologers can only speculate on the astrological condition of that nominee based on a
technique known as rectification, based on events of importance in that candidate’s life,
matching up with the times of specific progressions or transits to that rectified chart. Still,
without a recorded time, the accuracy of a birth time – even if rectified – cannot be
confirmed. Hence, the forecast can only be speculative because it is not “known” with
certainty where the transits and progressions are relative to the native’s angles
(Ascendant/Descendant and Midheaven/Nadir axes), which move forward about 1 degree
every four minutes of time. The astrologer cannot know with certainty where the candidate
is, relative to their personal cycles in life, based on these cosmic relationships, particularly
those that are dependent on the angles of the chart. Without an accurate birth time,
astrologers cannot know, for instance, whether transiting Saturn is near the bottom of the
chart (more challenging to win) or the top of the chart (greater likelihood of victory and
success in one’s career). Astrologers can make forecasts based on the relationships of
transiting and progressed planets to the natal planets only, which has value, but a value that
is considerably limited compared to what could be analyzed with a full set of tools that
includes the angles of the horoscope.

THE BIRTH DATE AND TIME OF A NATION (THE U.S.)

Even more difficult than obtaining accurate birth data for candidates is the task of
determining the correct birth data of the United States (or any country). This issue was
discussed earlier in the section on the United States. For reasons given therein, I am using
the date of July 2, 1776, when the vote for independence was completed, and a time of
11:50 AM, which is highly speculative, but fits 1) the historical data that the vote was
posted in the daily newspaper that day, and announcements in the daily newspaper at that
time probably had to be submitted by noon, and 2) the character of the U.S., as I interpret
it, suggests a Libra or Virgo rising, which could be anywhere from 8:45 AM to noon. I
chose Libra rising, based on the wording in the Declaration of Independence, which is
comprised of several Libra themes (fairness, equality, and justice).
 The chart of a nation is important because it indicates the nature of the relationship of
the candidate to the population of that nation. In this regard, the exact time of the founding
is important, but not as important as the date (as it is with the individual candidates),
because the principles of popularity and/or like-ability are designated by the position of the
Sun, Venus, and Jupiter in the country’s chart, and they do not vary much within a day.
The Moon is also important, and that can be subject to a variance of up to 15° degrees in a
24-hour day, but if a time of noon is used, then that differential can be reduced to 6 – 7.5°.
In this case, we are using 11:50 AM as the time of the founding, which is close enough to
noon to render it of value to our task.

Mundane and political astrologers assume that in order for a candidate to be elected
as president, their natal planetary positions must be “on the wheel” of the U.S. chart. That
means their natal planets (and angles, if known) must be in a strong aspect to the natal
planets (and angles, if known) of the nation’s founding chart. In 2016, both Donald Trump
and Hillary Clinton were “on the wheel” of the U.S. chart. Mr. Trump’s natal Sun and
Uranus, for instance, are conjunct the U.S. natal Mars. The relationship of the nation to
President Trump would reflect the dynamics associated with Mars (independent, assertive,
combative, highly competitive). He would probably have many people experiencing
greater than usual anger about his election and his term in office. Chances are that many
Americans would fight him, oppose him angrily, on many of his positions, policies, and
actions. He would focus greatly upon national security and military matters (Mars), and he
would shake up (his Uranus to the U.S. Mars) the status quo. He has, of course, lived up to
these astrological indications. And, he was “on the wheel,” so he could become president.

Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, had her natal Sun at 2° Scorpio, forming a favorable
trine aspect to the U.S. natal Venus/Jupiter conjunction in Cancer, a very popular
combination. This was doubly reinforced by her natal Venus (popularity) at 15° Scorpio in
a favorable trine aspect to the U.S. natal Sun also in Cancer. In the final tally, she had over
2 million more votes than Donald Trump. She was the more “popular” candidate. But he
won the electoral vote, and thus became the president, with far fewer popular votes, which
was more strongly indicated by the aspects to his progressed horoscope.

POPULAR VOTES VERSUS ELECTORAL COLLEGE VOTES

It has only happened five times in the 200+ years of American history that the
candidate with the greater number of popular votes failed to also win the Electoral College
vote. Thus, in nearly 90% of past cases, the candidate with the most popular votes had also
won the Electoral College vote, and thus the election. Therefore, it is important to analyze
the relationship of the candidates to the chart of the U.S. However, astrologers are limited
in their ability to forecast electoral votes, for that would require an analysis of the charts of
all 50 states in relationship to the chart of each candidate. If determining the correct date
and time of the U.S. founding was difficult, imagine how difficult it would be to determine
the exact date and time of incorporation of each state, and then do the same type of analysis
to forecast the winner of each state’s election. It can be done, but it would be extremely
difficult and labor intensive.
 Therefore, the scope of analysis regarding the 2020 Election at this time will primarily
be upon only these two factors: 1) the chart of the individual candidate and the progressions
and transits to it in late 2020, and 2) the comparison of the individual candidate’s chart to
the founding chart of the United States. In other words, is the candidate in a personal cycle
of life denoted by transits and progressions that suggests he/she is ready to take on the
challenge (and the opportunity) of the highest office in the nation, and is that candidate
likely to have enough support from the populace to garner enough votes to win (popular
votes, although as seen in 2016, the popular vote was not enough to win)? The first task
may be hindered in those cases where the birth time of the candidate is unknown. In the
second task, we may be able to provide a fairly accurate assessment of the candidate’s
potential to win the popular vote, which has close to a 90% correlation to the winner of the
electoral college vote, but it is not a 100% correlation. One can win the popular vote and
still lose the election, as was the case in 2000 and 2016, and in three other instances since
the first election in 1789.

DETERMINING THE RELEVANT CHARTS TO AN ELECTION RESULT

The 2020 U.S. Election analysis provided in this section of the book will primarily
focus on the charts of the individual candidates, and their comparison to the chart of the
United States. I believe these are the two most important charts to use for this task.
However, other charts can provide useful analysis too, and are used by many astrologers.
We will discuss a few here, as well as point out their limitations and challenges.

1. The Starting Time on Election Day.

The first vote on Election Day is cast at midnight in Dixville Notch, New Hampshire.
I used to give this chart greater importance, and it helped to forecast that George W. Bush
would win the 2004 election against John Kerry. On Election Day, November 2, 2004, the
Moon was in Cancer, the Sun sign of both the U.S. and George W. Bush. My view at the
time was that the mood of the country on Election Day would be reflected in the vote on
that day. Since both Bush and the U.S. were Cancer Suns (recognition), it made astrological
sense that Bush would prevail. The country was not in the mood for a change – yet.

The problem with using the starting time of voting on Election Day now is that
absentee ballot voting has increased so dramatically since then. Fewer and fewer voters
cast their ballot on Election Day, and more and more cast their votes before Election Day.
In 2004, 22% of the total vote was by absentee ballot. By 2012 it had increased to 36%. I
don’t have the figures for 2016, but it was very likely even higher, and will be more so in
2020, as many voters may fear for their safety on Election Day, per the aspects in effect
that day. Thus, it is my opinion that this tool for forecasting the election is no longer valid.

2. The Ending Time of Election Day

Election Day voting ends at 7:00 PM in Hawaii (unless one considers Guam, which is
a territory and not a state, but does have a vote). This event chart may have more validity
than the chart of the casting of the first vote. But again, the problem is that so many votes
were completed well before the last vote was cast, and the actual victor may be known long
before the last vote (although I am not so sure this will be the case in 2020).
 The idea for using either the chart of the first or last vote on Election Day is they
reveal the mood of the public via the Moon sign in effect that day. The chart for the ending
time on November 3, 2020 was shown earlier. Regardless of whether one uses the starting
or ending time on Election Day, the Moon will be in Gemini. President Trump is a Gemini.
Furthermore, the Moon in the chart of the closing time will be conjunct its North Node at
21° Gemini, and conjunct President Trump’s natal Sun and North Node. By itself, this chart
strongly favors a re-election victory for President Trump. It indicates that he has a surge of
support on Election Day. But will it be enough to offset the large number of absentee ballots
that were voted before Election Day, if those votes were not mostly for the President?

3. The Inauguration Day chart

Inauguration Day, January 20, 2021, 12:00 PM, Washington, D.C.

There is the series of lunar aspects in the most recent US inaugural charts –
repetitions of Moon in hard aspect to Mars (Moon square Mars in the 2013 Obama 2 nd
Inaugural, Moon sesqui-quadrate Mars in the Trump inaugural, Moon conjunct Mars in
the upcoming 2021 inaugural) – that is roughly repeating a pattern that previously
emerged in 1857, 1861, and 1865. We are, in fact, repeating the lunar patterns of the
American Civil War. - Matt Carnicelli, ISAR Ezine, Aug 23, 2019.
 Many astrologers consider the Inauguration Day chart to be an important factor in
revealing who will serve the next four years as President of the U.S. More than likely, it
indicates the nature of that president’s next four years in office – the challenges ahead, and
the areas in which he/she may encounter the most success and challenges.

The inauguration of the next U.S. presidential term will take place at 12:00 PM on
January 20, 2021, in Washington D.C.

We will discuss this chart in greater detail in the Forecast 2021 Book. But for now,
one can see a very powerful astrological setup. The Sun, Jupiter, and Saturn are in a
stellium in early Aquarius, forming a square aspect to a stellium of the Moon, Mars, and
Uranus in the 12th house. As Matt Carnicelli, mundane astrologer and noted journalist
pointed out in the quote preceding this section, the Moon (void of course in Aries) is within
orb of a conjunction with Mars in Taurus, which itself is in an exact conjunction with
Uranus. Mars and Uranus together have a very volatile, rebellious, even revolutionary drive
associated with it. At its worst, it can be extremely disruptive to the status quo, represented
by the fixed sign of Taurus, which generally likes things to be stable. That just isn’t likely
with both Mars and Uranus together in Taurus. More likely, stability could be upended.
Furthermore, Taurus rules money and banks (storage places of values). This is yet another
astrological indication that the nation’s financial system, or its currency as the international
standard, may come under attack.

4. Other charts

Astrologers use other charts as well as to glean insight into how an election may
unfold. Below is a list of some of those charts, but we will not be using them for this
analysis. Several are not even possible to analyze at this time, because the Democratic
candidate is not known. Even the Republican candidate can change between now and the
election, for anything is possible until each party’s convention completes its selection
process. The following charts may provide further insight into this task:

✓ Seasonal ingress charts, such as the spring equinox or autumnal equinox chart prior
to the election
✓ Candidate’s time of acceptance as party nominee
✓ Time that candidate crossed the threshold for acquiring enough votes to become
the party’s nominee
✓ Chart of the vice-presidential candidates
✓ Charts of candidate’s spouse and/or children

PERSONAL BIAS

Personal bias in analysis is always present, whether one is conscious of it or not. It is

not possible to separate one’s personal experiences in life from how life is viewed by each
person. It is only the degree of bias that is in question, and in many cases, that is not known.
All I can tell you about my own personal bias in analyzing the U.S. presidential election of
2020 is this: I have forecasted 10 presidential elections in my lifetime, starting in 1976. Of
those ten forecasts, I have personally only voted for three of the candidates I forecasted as
having the best astrological makeup to win.

Of the elections I have forecasted since 1976, eight were correct in the end. My
forecasts are not always correct, but I do trust that the analysis provided is insightful and
of interest to readers over the years and will prove to be again this year.

THE CANDIDATES

“Presidents are not ordinary citizens. They are extraordinary, in that they are vested
with so much more authority and power than the rest of us. We have a right, indeed, we
have an obligation, to hold them strictly accountable to the rule of law.” Senator John
McCain, Republican, during the Clinton Impeachment proceedings in 1998.

In this section, we will examine the charts of President Trump, the likely Republican
candidate, and the top Democratic candidates as of this writing. In cases where the time of
birth is known, we will identify that candidate’s status in terms of their professional life
cycle, based on transits and progressions to their natal chart on Election Day 2020. We will
also look at whether that candidate is “on the wheel” of the U.S. chart, based on a founding
date of July 2, 1776.

We will then give an opinion as to which signatures indicate the potential for success
or defeat, with the understanding that a final forecast is not possible at this time.

DONALD TRUMP, JUNE 14, 1946, 10:54 AM, QUEEN’S, NY (FROM HIS BIRTH
CERTIFICATE)

Once he had survived the Republican primaries in 2016 and then beaten Hillary
Clinton by tapping into a slice of overlooked voters, most serious people got on with the
business of coming to grips, if not terms, with this unconventional, pugnacious presidency.

We start with the chart of the current U.S. President, Donald Trump. This is the second
chart in our list of five charts that will be afflicted by the transit of Pluto in 22-27°
Capricorn. The first was the United States chart itself, as discussed in the prior section. In
President Trump’s chart, transiting Pluto through these degrees in 2020-2023 will be in
opposition to his natal Venus/Saturn conjunction in 23-25° Cancer.

Transits

The transit of Pluto indicates transformation, often in the form of an ending – or the
threat of an ending – to one’s journey in life represented by the natal planets. Saturn will
be hit first by the opposition of transiting Pluto in Capricorn (January through December
2020). Saturn represents one’s position of authority, title (he is the president of the country)
one’s duties and tasks, as well as one’s goals, and ability to “control” matters in one’s life.
In this aspect, President Trump is apt to see a threat to his power to control matters, even
the effort to eliminate his controls. The opposition indicates that he has enemies (Pluto),
opponents, who want to see him removed from his position of authority, by impeachment
or otherwise. They will reveal activities that they will claim are in violation (Pluto) of the
law (Saturn), and the basis upon which he should be stripped of his title, position, and
authority. They may also proclaim that he has violated “ethical” (Saturn) standards, and
“obstructed (Saturn)” justice (Venus).

Pluto rules investigations, and Saturn rules the past, so investigations may be endless,
but they may also reveal a pattern of abuse of authority that will be used as justification for
being removed from office. In other words, the threat of impeachment, censorship, and
even removal from office is very real, and could continue right into the election, and even
beyond. He could just as easily be impeached or threatened with removal in 2021 as 2020.

His path forward under transiting Pluto in opposition to Venus and Saturn will not be
easy. If the effort to impeach and remove President Trump from office is resolved by the
election, then this astrological setup indicates that he goes into the election as vulnerable
to defeat (and even badly), for Pluto in opposition to Venus is not a signature of popularity,
but rather of one who may be subject to intense rejection by those he loved and believed
loved him, or vice versa (it could be he rejecting others who believed he loved them).
 With transiting Pluto in opposition to his natal Venus and Saturn, there is a possibility
that more sordid sex scandals from the past may be revealed, that more women will come
forth who claim he abused them in some manner without their consent. His character and
his reputation are once again vulnerable to being immensely maligned. This transit does
not bode well for being re-elected. It is more associated with being harmed, deeply and
profoundly, even publicly, by others. However, even though it does not bode well for re-
election, it can also simply mean he is under severe attack and threat, perhaps the most
disturbing of his entire life. His position is not “safe,” and he is not “loved,” and yet, with
Venus conjunct Saturn, that is one of the things in life he wants most – to be loved. With
transiting Pluto in opposition to Venus, he is not likely to get affirmation of being loved in
2020. To the contrary, he may experience a severe loss or lack of love, even from those he
believed supported him. Love can be both blind and cruel to President Trump.

The second major transit to his chart in 2020 is Neptune, which forms a T-square to
his natal Sun/North Node/Uranus stellium in Gemini, and Moon in Sagittarius. This transit
will be in force April 2019-January 2023. Last year’s book pointed out that in its best
expression, it is indicative of a martyr, one who may work tirelessly (and idealistically) to
achieve world peace, to rid the world of threats from brutal leaders and rogues. But at its
worst, it symbolizes the challenge of trying to be realistic, of seeing things as they really
are, and not projecting fantasies about himself or life onto others. President Trump’s sense
of reality may be distorted by his tendency to withdraw into situations or mental states that
depict a surreal world, perhaps one that is totally supportive and protective of him. When
he acts from this state of mind, it may create very awkward situations for others who cannot
easily comprehend what he is doing or why he is doing it. As already experienced (i.e.
Nancy Pelosi suggesting he get an intervention from his family and advisor), others may
question his mental or emotional stability, wondering if he has lost his mind. He may
become forgetful, disoriented, and confused, under this aspect. The solution for one who
is undergoing a transit like this is to rest and avoid stress as much as possible. Of course,
that is not possible in the role of being the President of the U.S., so his advisors would be
wise to monitor his stress levels, and when too high, make sure he gets rest.

This aspect doesn’t necessarily deny re-election, but it often coincides with large
issues of mistrust with others. That is, they may feel betrayed by Mr. Trump’s action, or
he may feel betrayed by their actions, or both. To gain enough votes to win an election, it
is often necessary to make a connection with the public that conveys a sense of trust. This
aspect doesn’t do that naturally. But it may also reflect a sympathy from others who feel
the President has been unfairly victimized. With Neptune making the square to his Gemini
planets, it is possible that Mr. Trump plays both sides of the victim card: he hurls damaging
(and perhaps untrue) insults at others, re-branding them in ways that diminish their
reputation, while at the same time complaining that they are victimizing him unfairly. If he
succeeds at playing the role of victim in an unfair investigation, he may actually garner
support from the public, which in turn helps his re-election chances under this Neptune T-
square to his natal Sun, Uranus and Moon.

The third and final longer-term transit in force on Election Day is the Moon’s North
Node at nearly 22° Gemini, conjunct his natal Sun/Uranus/Moon’s North Node (and
opposite his natal Moon). He is having a Nodal return, on his natal Sun, which is a very
powerful and positive astrological transit for success. Once again, he is in the limelight. He
is in a cycle of great recognition, with the possibility of experiencing victory. Since both
the transit of the Moon’s North Node and Saturn are moving up his chart, he has the
potential to be re-elected. This transit alone indicates he may win. But with transiting Pluto
(and Saturn) in opposition to his natal Venus and Saturn, is it worth it? The Pluto transit is
indicative of being under great stress, to the point of affecting one’s health. This election
is apt to take a lot of energy out of him, and if he wins, the next question that will arise
may be whether he can finish his term, for Neptune and Pluto will remain in hard aspect
for two years after the benefit of the North Node passes his Sun.

In terms of the importance of these three transiting cycles, consider that the first two
involving Pluto and Neptune only take place once a lifetime. The Moon’s Nodal Return,
on the other hand, happens every 18-19 years. Thus, the two strongest transits do not
indicate a period of high favorability for the president over the next 1-3 years. They do not
imply he will be re-elected, but rather that he is more prone to defeat. Or, if he does win, it
may come at a high personal cost. But the 18-19 year Lunar Nodal Return cycle – especially
conjunct the Sun – is an indicator of recognition and victory, so his re-election cannot be
dismissed entirely. He has a shot at winning again, but possibly with highly unfavorable
approval ratings, just like in 2016. This suggests that the Democrats may offer an even less
favorable candidate. That is, it appears to be an election where voters could be voting
against one of the candidates, rather than for any of the candidates.

The Progressions

In addition to outer planet aspects to a candidate’s natal chart, we also look at the
progressed planets on Election Day, in aspect to one’s natal chart, in order to gauge the
prospects for winning an election that defines one’s career and status in life. The progressed
Sun is still in his first house, so he still commands attention. But it is in Virgo, pulling
further away from his Leo rising, which is ruled by the Sun. This denotes a waning of
attention and publicity compared to his first four years in office.

The progressed Ascendant is also interesting. At the time of the election, it is in the
last few minutes of the last degree of Libra, about to enter Scorpio for several years. His
world is about to change from the outward genteelness of Libra, to the rougher aspects that
come under the domain of Scorpio, which is not so refined. Libra rules support and
agreements, popularity and attraction to “the good things in life.” Scorpio is different, and
even tending towards disturbing experiences of rejection and/or rudeness from others.
Whereas Libra pertains to beauty and grace – even luxury – in one’s surroundings, Scorpio
highlights that which may be broken and in need of repair. Think of Libra as purchasing a
fine and stylish new outfit that makes one appear very fashionable. Everybody wants to be
around him, and he loves the company. Think of Scorpio as an old article of clothing that
has served its purpose, may no longer be in fashion, and is ready to be discarded. However,
Scorpio rules power as well as rejection. On the one hand, this may indicate an election
victory because the late Libra progressed ascendant forms an exact sextile to President
Trump’s natal ascendant, and sextiles by progression are considered favorable. Yet moving
from Libra to Scorpio between the election and the inauguration does not bode well. It
symbolizes a major change of life may be taking place, from acceptance to rejection, from
a life of ease and privilege to one that is more daunting and challenging. It can imply a
change of life where he has been very public and energized, to one where he becomes more
secluded and withdrawn. The transits of Neptune and Pluto imply the same dynamic in this
case and may be operative in 2020-2023.

The third part of the progressed chart to examine is the progressed Moon. On Election
Day, it is in 18-19° Virgo, square to his natal Uranus, and moving to square his Sun/Moon
opposition (and Nodes as well) shortly after Inauguration Day. This does not indicate
popularity either. The good news is that the progressed Moon passes this square to the
Sun/Moon by March, and Mr. Trump’s emotions seem to quiet down after that. But up
until then, both the transits and progressions portray a man who may be extremely restless
and under intense emotional stress. With the progressed Moon in Virgo, he will likely take
great pride in the service – and the quality of the service – he has provided to the nation.
But it doesn’t seem to be appreciated or recognized by the general public (the USA Moon),
who seem very critical of him, and which may be a reason for the highly emotional states
he may experience during the 2020 election season.

Trump is “On the Wheel”

President Trump is truly “on the wheel” of the U.S. chart. In fact, at least 8 of the U.S.
planets are connected via conjunctions to Trump’s natal chart.

The two major U.S. aspects that connect the nation to President Trump are its
Mars/Neptune square at 19-22° Gemini and Virgo, and its Moon/Pluto opposition to
Mercury at 25-27° Capricorn/Cancer.

In the first case, his natal Sun/Uranus/Lunar North Node stellium in Gemini falls right
on the U.S. Mars, square Neptune, and his natal Moon in Sagittarius makes it a mutable T-
square. Thus, the passive-aggressive, peace versus war, nature of Mars/Neptune in the U.S.
chart is highlighted by President Trump’s own powerful lunar eclipse natal set up. On the
one hand, the world sees Mr. Trump (and the U.S.) as a bully (Mars), a very aggressive
personality that tries to force others to his/its will. On the other hand, there can be confusion
and lack of clarity in purpose behind this aggression. The nation may think Trump “talks
loudly but carries a toothpick,” to quote William Galston from the Wall Street Journal.

Mars in a nation’s chart, represents its military and its ability to be ready and prepared
to handle conflicts, even wars. But Neptune square Mars can also indicate lack of
organizational thought or strategy to carry out an action that leads to long-term success.
Or, it may indicate a lack of trust in the President’s role as commander in chief. He may be
seen to alternate between being a very strong military strategist (Mars), to a very weak and
ineffective one (Neptune), at different times. Transiting Neptune touching off this dynamic
through early 2023 could represent a concern by the American public about President
Trump’s role as Commander in Chief. Under this transiting Neptune aspect, he may be
prone to make decisions and initiate actions that create confusion and disorientation with
regard to the U.S. military. In a word, these super-strong Neptune signatures can coincide
with chaos in critical moments, and a lack of clear-headed thinking when it is most needed.
It would be wise for Mr. Trump to avoid making any impulsive (Mars) decisions in this
area of American security without ample guidance and input from his military experts. He
will need to have a sense of cold, hard reality in national security matters, for America’s
enemies may see a weakness that they believe can be exploited between now and 2023,
and especially close to the election itself, when transiting Mars is so active with the
Capricorn stellium planets and the U.S. horoscope.

The other dominant connection between President Trump and the U.S. chart is also
being hit hard in the next 1-3 years. Transiting Pluto is forming a conjunction with the U.S.
natal Moon/Pluto conjunction in 25-27° Capricorn, in opposition to the U.S. Mercury at
25° Cancer. Mr. Trump’s natal Venus/Saturn conjunction conjoins the U.S. Mercury, and
is exactly opposite the U.S. Moon/Pluto. And transiting Pluto is activating this connection
in 2020 (and beyond). What is the nature of this relationship between Trump and the
population in 2020-2023, given these transits are activating the natal planets in each chart?

First, the conjunction of the U.S. Mercury with the President’s Venus/Saturn is
interesting. The Mercury/Venus conjunction in Cancer is considered very favorable, a
connection between Trump’s patriotism (Venus in Cancer) and need to be loved for his
ideas and “brilliance” (“genius,” he calls it). But Trump’s Saturn is there too, on the U.S.
Mercury, which means the press (Mercury) of the nation asks him to be accountable,
responsible, which he interprets as being critical of his ideas. That wouldn’t be so
challenging, except that the U.S. Moon/Pluto is in opposition to these Cancer planets,
which turns it into a very intense, personal, and emotional drama. It’s love (U.S. Moon,
and Trump Venus in Cancer) versus hate (Pluto). It’s the need for power (Pluto/Moon)
resulting in the rejection of love (Pluto/Venus). So yes, President Trump’s Venus/Saturn
conjunct in Cancer is right on the U.S. Mercury and opposite its Moon/Pluto. This is a very
strong connection, a love/hate relationship, or a rejection/renewal type of relationship. The
feelings between the two are very strong. They are very intense. It is challenging to work
out this dynamic with a peaceful, happy ending. Somebody is apt to get hurt very deeply
in this relationship if not ultracareful where feelings and emotions are concerned.

LOOKING AT THE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES’ CHARTS

A clearer forecast of the outcome of the U.S. 2020 election cannot be given until the
Democratic candidate is known. Therefore, we will look only at the natal chart of the four
top contenders, in alphabetical order, as of mid-November 2019, and see which are “on the
wheel” of the U.S. chart. In cases where the time of birth is known, we will comment on
where they are in their professional “cycle of life.”

JOE BIDEN, November 20, 1942, 8:30 AM, Scranton, PA (from Marion March)

We have a fairly accurate birth chart for Joe Biden, based on a personal conversation
between astrologer Marion March and the former Vice-President.

The major outer planet transits to Mr. Biden’s chart involve the Capricorn stellium of
Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn transiting his second house of money, in opposition to his natal
Jupiter in the 8th house of debt. Thus, his ability to raise enough monies to conduct an
effective campaign may become a serious concern. Transiting Pluto in a hard aspect to
one’s natal Jupiter is one of the classic bankruptcy aspects, when the expenses far outweigh
the revenues, unless one budgets frugally. In a presidential election, one can’t be frugal and
expect to win. Thus, finances are likely to be an issue in his run for the presidency.

Yet, the stellium makes a favorable sextile to his natal Sun/Venus conjunction in the
12th house. Jimmy Carter and George W. Bush also have the Sun in their 12 th house. Joe
Biden is popular and could receive much positive recognition this year, as shown by the
aspects to his natal Sun. These aspects are not as compelling as President Trump’s
progressed Sun was on his Ascendant in 2016, but they are favorable nonetheless.

However, the transit of Saturn and the Moon’s North Node are both headed down in
his chart, whereas in President Trump’s chart, they are both headed up. This implies Trump
is growing in life, whereas Biden is pulling back. Trump is in a better “life cycle” for an
election victory than Biden, but Biden appears to be more popular.
 Joe Biden’s progressed chart, however, looks very favorable if his time of birth is a
little earlier than 8:30 AM, say 8:20-8:28 AM. His progressed midheaven would be
conjunct his natal Sun/Venus, which would be as strong as President Trump’s chart was in
2016 with the progressed Sun conjunct his natal ascendant. In fact, in this chart, Biden’s
progressed Sun is conjunct his progressed ascendant. These are powerful signatures
denoting an election victory – if the time of birth is slightly earlier than reported.

The one drawback in the progressed chart is that the progressed Sun and Ascendant
are in opposition to Biden’s natal Pluto, although that may be more the case in 2021. This
magnifies the problem with finances and budget issues. Debt may be a serious problem,
either personally, or as a subject that presents formidable challenges in his administration,
should he win. His progressed chart is shown below.

Biden is not as connected to the U.S. chart as President Trump. Biden’s natal Jupiter
makes a trine to his natal Sun/Venus, while at the same time it conjoins the U.S. Mercury.
He is likely to receive much more support from the press than President Trump. But it
won’t be all positive because of the U.S. Moon/Pluto conjunctions opposite Biden’s natal
Jupiter. Biden is vulnerable to embarrassing revelations about his financial dealings in the
past, or debts currently, or “cover-ups,” both present and past and related to Pluto. He may
have made “deals” that are questionable and could cause him problems in the 2020 election.
 He is also on the wheel with his natal Saturn conjunct the U.S. Uranus. However, this
is not a “personal” contact. It implies that anything he tries to establish is likely disrupted
by more radical forces than his more traditional or moderate approach to matters. He is not
comfortable with radical forces who are likely to try to get him to do things he doesn’t want
to do. His resistance, and their push, do not make for an easy governance.

In the end, Mr. Biden is “on the wheel,” but not in the strongest of ways. He is popular
with the American people, and if nominated, could win the popular vote.

PETE BUTTIGIEG. January 19, 1982, time unknown, South Bend, IN

There is no publicly known accurate birth time for Mayor Pete, so we cannot comment
on his professional “life cycle” status. We can, however, look at the transits of the outer
planets to his natal planets, which would provide some insights. For unknown birth times,
we use an Aries chart, which places 0° Aries on the Ascendant.

Buttigieg was born on the last day of Capricorn. Thus, the Capricorn stellium of
Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto in late Capricorn will be near his natal Sun at 29° Capricorn and
his Lunar South Node at 29° Capricorn. This is a combination which indicates a huge new
cycle is about to begin that will involve many new and demanding responsibilities.
Transiting Saturn will be crossing his Sun, back and forth, all year. This indicates a new
career cycle is about to begin, and it will take about 5 years to see the results of this new
cycle. His natal chart shows that he was born during the last Saturn/Pluto conjunction (22°
and 26° Libra), and the year 2020 is the next Saturn/Pluto conjunction (22-26° Capricorn).
Thus, this is the time for his generation to step up and make their mark in life. With his
natal Sun in orb of these degrees, he is the one who may be highlighted to carry the banner
of his generation.

Based on these factors. Buttigieg must be given serious consideration as someone who
may become president. Is he ready now? Probably not. But these charts indicate he is about
to be elevated to a position that will involve more serious and demanding responsibilities
than he has ever taken on before in his life, with pressures he may never experience again.
However, with Mars also near his Saturn/Pluto conjunction in Libra, he is a hard and
tireless worker. With transiting Pluto squaring his natal Saturn/Pluto, and to be soon
afterwards followed by transiting Jupiter doing the same, he too – like President Trump –
may encounter immense support and rejection for his views and ideas. He will likely have
to deal with more threats and rejections than he ever imagined, but with Saturn and Pluto
in conjunction in his natal chart, he has a “superman” aspect to his nature. He can probably
work harder than anyone around him, and he takes his duties seriously.
 Pete Buttigieg is “on the wheel” of the U.S. chart for July 2, 1776. In fact, his Sun
forms a conjunction to the U.S. Moon/Saturn conjunction, a powerful signature of one who
is deeply connected to this country and may even put his life on the line for this country
(he already has). A Sun-Moon conjunction is said to be a classic combination for a marriage
or partnership. But with Pluto involved, powerful forces in the country may be working to
undermine or manipulate him, perhaps due to his sexual (Pluto) orientation (he is in an
openly gay partnership), or perhaps due to his position of power in the world of government
being in conflict with individuals who are embedded in the operations of the government
that he wants to transform. This is a man who wants to make huge changes in the
government, and he will meet great resistance – even threats – in this endeavor. But that is
exactly what one would expect to see in the chart of someone who would be the leader of
a nation like the U.S.

Pete Buttigieg is likely a force to be reckoned with in the 2020 election, and maybe
for several years afterwards. If he is the Democratic nominee or vice-presidential nominee,
or if he is appointed to a powerful position in the next administration, then it supports the
idea that July 2 is the correct chart to use for the U.S., for it is seldom that you find such a
strong connection between a nation’s chart and an individual’s chart like this who doesn’t
make his mark in that country, if given the opportunity.

BERNIE SANDERS, September 8, 1941, time unknown (but several have stated
between 11:43 AM – 1:05 PM), Brooklyn Heights, NY

We will use a time of 12:27 PM, as proposed by Isaac Starkman in the Astro-
Databank, because 1) it is close to noon, which we would use for calculating planetary
positions anyway, and 2) because it falls within the range of times offered by others
astrologers who have rectified Sanders’ chart varying between 11;43 AM and 1:05 PM.

The Capricorn Stellium on Election Day makes a harmonious aspect to Sanders’ natal
Neptune, but that is not enough to elevate him to the presidency, especially with transiting
Neptune in a separating opposition to his natal Sun. This latter position indicates a problem
with getting his message out and understood adequately. Neptune in aspect to one’s Sun is
either a condition of being invisible or undergoing a state of surrealism where things are
not seen as they really are, or simply having difficulty getting people to trust you or your
message. One can express very high-minded and idealistic views on how things could and
should be. But the devil is always in the details, and even as detail-oriented as Virgo is,
transiting Neptune is apt to be challenged (and usually found wanting) when it comes to
making the dream (Neptune) into reality.

Still, this is a combination of being loved and popular in a way that may be akin to a
cult personality following. His following is not broadly based. Additionally, transiting
Neptune is forms a T-square to his natal Jupiter (and Sun). This is another bankruptcy
aspect. Like Mr. Biden, Sanders may also fall short of monies needed to conduct his
campaign effectively. This signature implies over-spending and poor financial
management. It can also indicate grandiose ideas that appeal to hopes and wishes, but not
reality. That may make one popular with some, but it may also make one vulnerable to
distrust about his ability to carry out his promises. He may very well not be able to deliver
what he proposes. The problem, as indicated by transiting Neptune square his Jupiter, is
cost controls. There are none, or if there are, they are likely not realistic and could easily
lead to unsustainable debt and bankruptcy.

The harder aspect, though, is the T-square of the transiting Capricorn stellium planets
to Sanders’ natal Moon/Mars in Aries and Venus in Libra. That natal combination may
have difficulty holding back temper, or temptations to express himself over-aggressively.
It is not a very agreeable trait, although it will espouse the value of agreements (but usually
of others agreeing with him, and not the other way around). It says, “I am going to do it
my way, and I want you to do it with me.” On the one hand, he has very passionate
“feelings” about what he is doing, which can make him seem like a warrior, and people
may like that. For instance, the Venus-in-Libra, opposite Mars and Moon in Aries, can be
very passionate about “equality” and “fairness.” But at other times, he may not adequately
control his responses to others, and his impatience or anger may end up turning others off.
With the transiting Capricorn planets in a square aspect to his natal Moon/Mars/Venus, this
“brusque” behavior towards others may work against him during the campaign season.
Saturn and Pluto in a square aspect to Venus may find it hard to generate popularity beyond
his “core” base. And, with Saturn and the Moon’s North Node moving down the chart, he
is not in the professional phase of his life cycle that is rising in the outer world, but falling,
similar to Joe Biden’s. Of course, that is dependent on the time of birth being within the
range indicated previously. That would all change if he was born closer to midnight.

There is also the question of his stamina. Moon/Mars in Aries has a lot of energy, but
when squared by transiting Saturn and Pluto, the demands of an election can become too
exhausting. He may require more rest and less activity than usual. Saturn in a T-square to
Moon/Mars and Venus represents a period when you can’t easily do everything you want
to do for lack of energy or support from others that you need. It is an aspect of frustration,
and this chart does not tend to do well with frustration, because it highlights impatience
under the disguise of being efficient.

Sanders is “on the wheel” of the U.S. chart in two ways. His Sun/Jupiter square falls
close to the U.S. Mars/Neptune square, with his Jupiter exactly on the U.S. Mars. His natal
Moon/Mars in opposition to Venus makes a grand square with the U.S. natal Moon/Pluto
in opposition to its Mercury, all in cardinal signs, and all being activated by the Capricorn
stellium in 2020.

He would have a greater influence on the U.S. military than others expect. But his
national security policies would likely be confusing and filled with ambiguity and
contradiction. The Jupiter/Mars connection would be hawkish (favoring the deployment of
troops). But the U.S. Neptune conjunct his natal Sun and North Node of the Moon suggests
he would also be dovish, or a pacifist. He wants peace, but he also wants to carry a large
stick that warns others to beware. He may espouse peace, but in practice, he may prove to
be rather ruthless.

The grand cardinal square between his Moon/Mars opposition to his Venus, tapping
into the U.S. Moon/Pluto opposition to its Mercury, is more problematic. Venus and the
Moon are the “popularity,” planets, those that are needed (in astrology) to secure the
popular vote. The “public” (U.S. Moon) is square his natal Venus (personal attraction and
broad-based popularity). With both transiting Saturn and Pluto activating this grand square
during the elections season, it portends a very hard road ahead for the Sanders’ campaign.
He is “on the wheel,” and thus he could win. But it is difficult to see how he would manage
that during the transits of 2020.

ELIZABETH WARREN, June 22, 1949, time unknown, Oklahoma City, OK.

“At least Bernie is being honest here, and saying how he’s going to pay for this and
that taxes are going to go up. And I’m sorry, Elizabeth, but you have not said that and I
think we owe the American people to tell them where we will send the invoice. The
difference between a plan and a pipe dream is something that you can actually get done.”

The time of birth for Elizabeth Warren is unknown publicly, which is a pity because
1) she is leading in the polls as of this writing in mid-November 2019 and 2), the transiting
aspects to her natal positions show an intriguing setup. If she was born almost any time
between noon and 9:00 PM, this would be a powerful and potentially successful chart for
the 2020 election season.

The Jupiter/Saturn conjunction that takes place on December 21, 2020 at 0° Aquarius
falls right on her natal Jupiter, a signature of potential great fortune (Jupiter) or great loss
(Saturn), depending on where (house position) this falls in her natal chart, which depends
upon the time of day she was born. It can also portend many new responsibilities and a
change of title in regard to one’s work. It is furthermore interesting to note that on
Inauguration Day (January 20), the transiting Sun will fall on her natal Jupiter too. It is as
if the period between mid-December and Inauguration Day are filled with many large-scale
activities and planning, the type of activities probably needed for an Inauguration Day
celebration.

There are a couple of other interesting points. The transiting Lunar North Node will
cross her natal Sun and Uranus in early June 2020. With an orb of up to nine months, this
can be a period of great recognition, because it involves the Sun. However, it can also be a
period of volatile approval ratings because of Uranus. The Sun/Uranus conjunction is very
important, and by itself, it is an indicator of one who potentially could become president.
President Trump has this conjunction as well. Since Uranus rules Aquarius, a Sun/Uranus
conjunction is akin to being an honorary Aquarian, and history shows more Aquarius
presidents (Sun in Aquarius) than any other sign (i.e. Abraham Lincoln, Franklin
Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan). The Sun conjunct Uranus is also a signature that can lend itself
to radical ideas or radical acts, and once taken on, it is difficult for the native to walk them
back or change his/her mind. With Uranus strongly aspected to the Sun, it is hard for one
to admit any wrong thinking, for Uranus thinks it knows best. Humility is not a key feature
of this conjunction. Over-confidence, even to the point of intellectual arrogance, may be.
For both President Trump and Senator Warren to carry the vote, they will have to
demonstrate their willingness to change positions that are not popular, and not insist on
demanding that others – the public – must change their views. Rigid, even unbendable or
irrational positions may harm more than help either in their campaigns. Yet, both President
Trump and Ms. Warren will find transiting North Node conjunct their natal Sun/Uranus in
2020, so a wild matchup between these two should not be ruled out.

Elizabeth Warren, inner wheel, Aries chart, on Election Day 2020, outer chart

Elizabeth Warren is definitely “on the wheel” of the U.S. chart, perhaps more than
any candidate other than President Trump. And, it is very notable that her Sun/Uranus
conjunction falls on the U.S. Venus (and Jupiter), whereas President Trump’s falls on the
U.S. Mars. It is clearly a contest between Venus and Mars if these two personalities end up
being the candidates – and it is very possible they might. Warren’s Sun/Uranus on the U.S.
Venus implies popularity, probably much broader than many expect. This is doubly
highlighted because her own Venus falls close to the U.S. Sun. Hillary Clinton had a similar
relationship to the U.S. chart (Sun/Venus both ways in favorable aspect), but Warren’s is
a conjunction, which is more powerful than Clinton’s trines. Like Clinton, it suggests she
could win the popular vote, but it doesn’t guarantee her the Electoral College vote, and
without a birthtime, that is difficult to measure.

There are other contacts between Warren and the U.S. too. Her natal Mercury/Mars
(“I have a plan….”) falls on the U.S. Uranus (“But is your plan rational or radical?”). This
is a combination that implies radical or even revolutionary acts, where the risks may be too
great to be enacted or accepted by the public or Congress. The country is apt to see her as
a revolutionary. But they see President Trump the same way for different reasons. Warren
may want to dismantle or revolutionize the military and Wall Street. Trump will want to
enhance and strengthen both. Neither will conduct “business as usual.” Both will shake up
the establishment, but different parts of the establishment.

Elizabeth Warren’s chart (inner wheel) to the U.S. chart (outer wheel)

Warren’s Neptune conjoins the U.S. Saturn. She wants universal health insurance for
everyone (Neptune). Saturn in the U.S. chart refers to her struggle to get her plans for this
passed, for Saturn represents delays and obstacles. It can be done, but only with immense
patience and willingness to combine practical and workable (Saturn) solutions with one’s
ideals (Neptune) of helping others. This combination indicates she wants to help those who
suffer or are at a disadvantage in society, but until she offers a well thought out, realistic
plan and solution that the majority of Americans want, she finds it hard to get wide support,
which may frustrate her (Sun/Uranus believes everyone should see their point of view, and
they are surprised when they don’t). Yet, she never stops. She keeps coming up with new
ideas and plans (Mercury and Mars conjunct in Gemini). She is smart, but she can also
exhibit a tendency to be abrupt, sharp, and critical, and that can also interfere with her
ability to get the support she needs to carry out her “plans.”

Without a time of birth, or knowledge of who the final candidates will be, it is
impossible to make an educated forecast at this time. It looks like Warren and Buttigieg
have the best shot, but the time of birth is unknown in each case. There are also other
candidates who are “on the wheel,” such as Kamala Harris (October 20, 1964, 9:28 PM,
Oakland, CA), and Michael Bloomberg (February 14, 1942, 3:40 PM, Brighton, MA). Both
have Saturn and the Moon’s North Node ascending in their charts the next four years, which
means they are each in a professional life cycle that is growing. Neither of these two
candidates can be ruled out.

STUDIES ON THE ELECTION CYCLE

There are two studies that have some historical relevance to forecasting U.S.
presidential elections. One is astrology-based and the other is market-based.

A Jupiter/Saturn Election Study

Presidential elections in the U.S. occur every four years. Every fifth one coincides
closely with the 20-year Jupiter/Saturn conjunction cycle. In every case of an election close
to the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction, either the party out of office won, or something strange
(like an assassination) happened when the party in office was re-elected. Let’s take a look
at these times and see what they say about the 2020 election.

1800*: Thomas Jefferson defeated incumbent President John Adams

1820: Incumbent James Monroe won re-election without any major opponent. This was
the third and last election in which a candidate ran unopposed (George Washington was
the unopposed candidate in the other two cases).

1840*: William Henry Harrison defeated incumbent President Martin Van Buren.
Harrison died one month after inauguration. This began a string of elections under
Jupiter/Saturn where the elected president did not complete his term in office due to death,
often referred to as the “Curse of Tecumseh,” or the “20-year Presidential Curse,” or the
“Zero-Year Election Curse”, which lasted through John F. Kennedy’s election in 1960.

1860*: Republican Abraham Lincoln, replacing incumbent and Democrat James

Buchanan. Lincoln was assassinated before completing his second term.

1880*: Republican James Garfield won as incumbent Rutherford B. Hayes (also a

Republican) decided not to run for re-election. The margin of victory was only 1898 votes,
the smallest margin of the popular vote in history. Garfield was assassinated 6-1/2 months
into his term.
1900: Republican President William McKinley won re-election over Democrat
William Jennings Bryan. McKinley was also assassinated six months into his second term.

1920*: Republican Warren Harding won, replacing Democrat Woodrow Wilson whose
party denied his wish for a third term. Two years later, Harding died in office.

1940: Democrat Franklin Roosevelt, incumbent, was re-elected, having broken from
tradition by running for an unprecedented third term in office. He also ran for and won a
fourth term in 1944 but died while in office in 1945.

1960*: Democrat John F. Kennedy won the election, thus ending Republican control of
the White House. However, Kennedy was assassinated in November 1963.

1980*: Republican Ronald Reagan won the election over incumbent Jimmy Carter.
Reagan survived an assassination attempt during his first term.

2000*: Republican George W. Bush won the election over Democrat Al Gore, thus
ending Democrat control of the White House. Al Gore won the popular vote in a highly
contested result.

*Denotes a change of party in the White House or the incumbent not re-elected.

This study shows that there have been 11 U.S. presidential elections nearby to the
Jupiter/Saturn conjunctions. In 8 of these 11 elections, the incumbent or the incumbent
party was not re-elected. The wining party changed in 7 of these cases, and in one, the
incumbent decided not to run again. In 7 cases the incumbent could have run again, but in
only three of those cases did he run and win. In 7 of the 11 cases, the president-elect did
not finish his terms in office alive.

An adjunct to this study would be to note the times in which the Jupiter/Saturn
conjunction changed elements, as it will be doing in 2020. This has happened in five of the
above-mentioned cases, as follows:

1802 (1800 election): it occurred in earth (Virgo). Incumbent defeated.

1821 (1820 election): it switched back to fire (Aries). Incumbent won, unopposed.
1842 (1840 election): it switched back to earth (Capricorn). Incumbent defeated.
1980 (1980 election): it occurred in air (Libra): Incumbent defeated.
2000 (2000 election): it switched back to earth (Taurus): Incumbent party defeated.
2020 (2020 election): it switches back to air (Aquarius).

In four of the prior five cases in which the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction changed
elements, the incumbent or the incumbent party lost. The victor was the challenging party.
In the one case where this failed (1820), there was no opposing candidate.

Conclusions: These studies suggest that President Trump either does not win or may
not finish his term in office. However, these studies do not reflect a 100% correlation. What
is 100% is that something strange, and/or unprecedented happens regarding the election,
or the life of the elected president, before his/her term in office ends.
The 16-Year U.S. Election Year Cycle

This study has been reported in previous editions of the annual Forecast Book. It began
with a cycles study on the U.S. Dollar, in which it was noted that since 1984, the Dollar
made a 16-year cycle high when a Republican was president. The U.S. Dollar also made a
long-term 16-year cycle trough when a Democrat was elected. In other words, the Dollar
came down in value under a Republican president, and it went up in value under a
Democrat in the White House. The interval between the highs and lows was 8 years.

In 1984, at the all-time high for the U.S. Dollar Index (1), Republican Ronald Reagan
was re-elected president of the U.S. Republicans remained in the White House until Bill
Clinton, Democrat, defeated George H. W. Bush in 1992. The U.S. Dollar made its 16-year
low then (2). Eight years later, the Dollar was making its next 16-year high in early 2001,
as Republican George W. Bush was elected president. The Dollar started to decline shortly
after he took office, and continued to fall until 2008, the year that Democrat Barack Obama
was elected. That marked the 16-year cycle low, after which the Dollar rallied again to its
next 16-year cycle crest in January 2017, just after Republican Donald Trump won the
election. This cycle is next due to bottom within six months of the 2024 Election, which
would correspond to a Democrat being elected, if this pattern continues.

I began to wonder: is this really a political cycle or a market cycle? As a political

cycle, I could understand it. The Republicans want the Dollar to fall so that their biggest
supporters – U.S. multi-national corporations – could gain world market share by offering
their products at a lower cost, relative to the value of other nations’ currency against the
Dollar. Under a Democrat presidency, the Dollar might go up because spending typically
goes up to cover more social programs, which then forces the Federal Reserve to raise
interest rates. Rising interest rates usually support a rising Dollar.
 But how far back did this pattern – this cycle – go? Was it reliable enough to consider
valid for the future? And what does it say about the interim presidencies?

Going back to 1900, the following table shows this 16-year cyclical relationship in
terms of the party in office:

With the exception of 1928 and 1936, the 16-year cycle coincided with the “expected”
party being victorious in 13 of the 15 cases (it was not so reliable before the 20th century).
This is a rather high 85.7% rate of frequency.

The next question to ask was: how often was the incumbent re-elected in the following
years, as will be the case in 2020? The result, going back to 1900, was the same. In 13 of
the 15 cases, the incumbent party was re-elected after the 16-year cycle high or low
election. It failed in 1980 when Jimmy Carter was not re-elected, and again in 1932 when
incumbent Herbert Hoover was not re-elected. In both cases, it was due to a poorly
performing economy.

This study favors President Trump being re-elected, especially if the economy is
performing well at the time of the election.

Conclusion: The astrological studies involving the Jupiter and Saturn 20-year synodic
cycle favor the Democrats winning the 2020 election. The cyclical studies related to the
U.S. Dollar and a 16-year market cycle of highs and lows favor President Trump being re-
elected in the 2020 election.
