Question:
WHAT OPERATING SYSTEMS AND HARDWARE ARE THE PETEX IPM, IFM & IVM APPLICATIONS
SUPPORTED?
Answer:
Below are the supported operating system and minimum hardware specification for the IPM, IFM
and IVM applications.
If a particular operating system is not supported, it does not necessarily mean that it does not
work on that operating system. It may only be that testing has not been completed.
IPM SUITE
Platform Support
If you are using the HARDLOCK network licensing to run IPM Version 9.0 you must be using
HARDLOCK V8.1 or a later version.
IPM Version 9.0 has a 32 bit and 64 bit product version. The 32 bit version can run under Windows
7 64 bit and Windows 2008 Server 64 bit as 32 bit applications. The 64 bit version will only run on
64 bit operating systems. The 64 bit version is only available on X64 processor types as this is by far
the most common type currently in use.
The 32 bit and 64 bit versions are separate products and are purchased separately.
IPM Version 9.0 can run on Windows Server operating systems only when the server is using
the Network License Manager (HARDLOCK) for licensing. A standalone bitlock cannot be used for
server operating systems.
HARDLOCK Version 8.2 (latest Version) is supported on the following operating systems:‐
Windows Vista (32 bit)
Windows 7 (32 & 64 bit)
Windows 2003 Server (32 bit)
Windows 2008 Server (64 bit)
Windows 2012 Server (64 bit)
The HARDLOCK is only available as a 32 bit version. It is supported on 32 bit and 64 bit operating
systems as described above. The 32 bit version of the HARDLOCK is able to distribute licenses to 32
and 64 bit versions of the client programs (i.e. IPM/IFM/IVM) assuming such licenses have been
purchased.
If a standalone bitlock is to be used then one USB port is required for the bitlock.
IFM Version 4.0 client software is supported on the following operating systems:‐
Windows XP (32 bit)
Windows Vista (32 bit)
Windows 2003 Server (32 bit) ‐ if you are using a HARDLOCK network licensing system.
Windows 7 (32 & 64 bit)
Windows 2008 Server (32 & 64 bit)
If you are using the HARDLOCK network licensing to run IFM Version 4 you must be using
HARDLOCK V8.1 or a later version.
IFM Version 4 has a 32 bit and 64 bit product version. The 32 bit version can run under Windows 7
64 bit and Windows 2008 Server 64 bit as 32 bit applications.
The 32 bit and 64 bit versions are separate products and are purchased separately.
IFM Version 4.0 can run on Windows Server operating systems only when the server is using
the Network License Manager (HARDLOCK) for licensing. A standalone bitlock cannot be used for
server operating systems.
IFM Client
See Hardware Requirements for IPM V9.0.
Notes
The use of high end specified PCs for the Automated Job services is favorable if multiple
fields have to be served.
The use of dedicated database server running a single database instance is strongly
recommended as well as hosting the database server on a physical machine.
The use of dedicated data disk for database files is recommended to provide isolation and
protection upon a failure in a single area.
IVM SUITE
IVM Suite 6
Platform Support
IVM Version 6.0 are 32 bit applications only. However they can run under Windows 7 64 bit and
Windows 2008 Server 64 bit as 32 bit applications.
IVM Version 6.0 can run on Windows Server operating systems only when the server is using the
Network License Manager (HARDLOCK).
We will also be releasing a 64 bit version of IVM 7 in 2014. This will take full advantage of the benefits
of the memory management and processing capabilities of 64‐bit computing. The 64‐bit version will
be licensed as a separate product.
Hardware Requirements
IVM Server
Processor 3 GHz Dual or Quad core
Total Physical Memory 4 GB
Local Disks (space available for cache and log files) 160 GB
Operating System MS Windows Server 2008 (32 & 64‐bit)
IVM Client
Processor 2 GHz
Total Physical Memory 2 GB
Local Disks (space available for cache files) 80 GB
Operating System MS Windows XP (32 bit)
MS Windows Vista (32 & 64 bit)
MS Window 7 (32 & 64‐bit)
Notes
The use of dedicated database server running a single database instance is strongly
recommended as well as hosting the database server on a physical machine.
The use of dedicated data disk for database files is recommended to provide isolation and
protection upon a failure in a single area.
For IPM v. 9.0 and IFM v.4.0 there will be two separate products suites the client can choose to
purchase
Where a client model needs to use large amount of memory and/or processors them using the
Windows Operating System 64 Bit and Petex software 64 Bit is advised.
LICENSING
The IPM and IFM 32 Bit software licence will only allow the 32 Bit applications to be used, even
when the Windows operating system is 64 Bit.
Clients with 64 Bit IPM and IFM licences will be able to use the 64 Bit or 32 bit software. The
number of concurrent licenses is limited by the number of 64 bit licenses under the agreement.
There is a economical upgrade from existing IPM and IFM clients with the 32 bit products that
wish to upgrade their licenses to 64 Bit products. Please contact Petex for a quotation
