Oil low in reservoir - Check level and [ill to proper level. Check system for leaks. Oil of wrong viscosity - See specification on proper oil. Restriction in system - Oil lines could be dirty or have inner walls that are collap- sing to cut off the supply. Clean or replace lines, Air Leaks in pump Suction Line - Repair or replace lines. Dirt in pump - Cleanand repair pump. If necessary, drain and flush hydraulic system Badly worn pump - Repair or replace pump. Check for problems causing pump wear such as misalignment or contamina- ted oil Oil leak in pressure lines - Tighten fittings or replace defective lines. Hoses attached improperly - Attach pro- perly and tighten securely Slipping pump belt - Tighten belt check alignment Air in system - examine suction side of system for leaks. Make sure oil level is correct. Cold oil - Vis at start. Components sticking or binding - Check for dirt or gummy deposits. Check system for leaks that could cause loss of oil Air in system - Check suction side of the system for leaks Badly worn pump - Repair or replace pump. Check for problems causing pump wear such as misalignment or contamina- ted oil Restrietion in suction line - Suction line could be dirty or have inner walls that are collapsing to cut off oil supply. Clean or replace suetion line. Oil leaks in pressure lines - Tighten fit- tings or replace defective lines. Overheating of oil in system Tsing incorrect oil - § proper oil Low oil level - Fill reservoir. Look for leaks. Dirty oil - Drain and refill with clean oil me Specifications on Engine running too fast - Reduce throttle. Restriction in pump suction line - Clean or replace. Control valve stuck in partially or full open position - Free all spools so that they return to neutral position Foaming of oil in system: Pump makes noise Low oil level - Fill reservoir. Look leaks Water in oil - Drain and replace oil Wrong kind of oil being used - See speci- fications on proper oil Air leak in line from reservoir to pump - ‘Tighten or replace suction line. Kink in oil line - Replace oil line Worn seal around pump shaft - Clean seal- ing urea and replace seal. Check oil for contamination or pump for misalignment Low oil level - Fill Reservoir. Check sys- | tem for leaks. Oil Viscosity too high - Change to lighter oil Pump speed too fast - Operate pump at recommended speed. PAGE FIFTEEN PROBLEM. CORRECTION Pump makes noise (Cont'd) Suction line plugged or pinched - Clean or replace line between reservoir and pump. Sludge and dirt in pump - Disassemble and inspect pump and lines. Clean hydraulic stem Reservoir air vent plugged - Remove breather cap, flush, and clean air vent. Air in Oil - Tighten or replace suction line. Check system for leaks. Replace pump shaft sed Worn or scored pump bearings or shafts - Replace pump. Pump leaks oil Damaged seal around drive shaft - Re- place pump - Trouble may be caused by contaminated oil Check for misalignment of drive pulley and belt Load drops with control valve in neutral position Leaking or broken oil lines from control valves to cylinder - Check for leaks. Tighten or replace line: Oil leaking past cylinder packing or O-Rings - Replace worn parts. If wear is caused by contamination, clean hy- draulic system and determine the source. Oil leaking past control valve - Clean or replace valve. Wear may be caused by contamination. Clean system and determine source of contamination. Control valve sticks or worl hard Tie bolis too tight ~ See specifications on torquing valve bolts Valve broken or scored internally - Re pair broken parts. Located source of con- tamination that caused scoring Control valve leaks oil Tie bolts too loose - See torquing speci- fications. Worn or damaged O-Rings - Replace O-Rings (especially between valve halves). If contamination has caused O-Rings to wear, clean system and look for source. Broken valve parts - Replace parts. PAGE SIXTEEN PROBLEM Cylinder leaks oil CORRECTION Damaged cylinder bowl - Replace linder = correct cause of damage Rod seal leaking - Replace seal. If con- tamination has caused seal to wear, look for source, Wear may be caused by ex- ternal as well as internal contaminants. Check piston rod for scratches or mis alignment Loose parts - Tighten parts until leakage has stopped Piston Rod damaged - Check rod for nicks or scratches that could cause seal amo | or allow oil leakage.
