A journey towards the fiction and reality

Rip Van Winkle and The Sleepy Hollow is written by Washington Irving,

an important writer from the XIX century. Washington Irving was born in New

York, lived a part of his life in England and returned to America after seventeen

years. The book has two small stories, the first it’s about a man who sleep in a

mountain for about twenty years and the second it’s about myths and ghosts

about stranger things in stranger cities.

Rip Van Winkle is an American farmer that don’t like to work, He has a

Family and his wife always yells with him. Most of this because He spend his

time drinking and talking with his friends instead of working. One day He goes

out to the mountains, to run away of his wife and some peculiarities happens,

stuffs that turns his life upside down, the time passes by on the american

Revolution period. The other story it’s about Ichabod Crane, a teacher that fell

in love with a beautiful lady but the destiny, or maybe “ghosts”, tear them apart.

I liked a lot, this book it’s simple and it’s easy to understand the hole

story, even if you don’t know some words you can easily understand the

context. Sure I’ll recomend this book for friends and person that started to learn

english.
