Q1 Give the definition of erosion and dilation for binary images
Two basic operations of morphology are: Dilation –adds pixels to the boundaries of objects in an image. Erosion –Removes pixels on object boundaries. Q2 Explain the gray scale dilation and erosion with an example. Q3 Explain closing and opening morphological operations with an example Q4 Explain Hit or miss transformation with an example.
Q5 Explain the four Morphological principals.
Done in Ques 2 and Ques 3 Q6 What is Morphological Transformation? Morphological transformations are some simple operations based on the image shape. It is normally performed on binary images. It needs two inputs, one is our original image, second one is called structuring element or kernel which decides the nature of operation. Two basic morphological operators are Erosion and Dilation. Then its variant forms like Opening, Closing, Gradient etc also comes into play. Q7 Explain Umbra, Top surface and gray scale dilation and erosion Q8 What is structuring element? What is its role in mathematical morphology? Q9 What is a watershed? How is it used for morphological segmentation?
