Education Must for Nation Building

There is nothing hidden about the Education growth and Education System in our country.
The nation has been taking long step in the areas of science, education and technology. The
government is also trying to leave no stone unturned to make India a preferred nation for
investment in digital technologies, finance and biotechnology. To sustain this development
pace, it is natural to have a robust system of education runs in parallel to provide a highly
qualified, talented and committed team of trained manpower. Education which is a building
factor and builds both spirit and institutions which are of paramount importance for nations
growth and security, whether political, economic, cultural or social. Today economic
necessities make technical and professional education very important to fully utilize the
natural resources of the country. This improve employment, GDP, economic growth and
development. But we must not become a body running by machines or be cripples. Satyamev
Jayate is the motto of our Constitution and to promote it we must promote education as a
mean to harness individuals potential in its search for social, economic and psychological
emancipation for a liberated and happy individual which will automatically make happy and
liberated nation and society.

An Ideal Education should liberate one from corrupting shackles of greed and graft, from the
baseless superstition of ethnic and religious bigotry and from corrosive instincts of
selfishness and parochialism. Good wholesome education demands for excellence over
mediocrity and promotes patriotism. Good and wholesome education should place high
premium on truth, justice, individual and social morality, as well as peace making. The
education should comprise of leadership, the ideal leader who would throw up as servant,
mentor, inspirer and visionary. Education should emphasize on civic and political awareness,
rigorous training in human dignity and fundamental human rights and citizens
responsibilities.

Every social order has certain demands which requires to be met for social life to endure and
expand. For people to live and survive, the existence of some administration for justice, a
political system and some family structure to control and produce the population and
maintain social life on a daily basis is necessary. In the structural and functional model, every
individual carries out each of the above mentioned tasks in various institutions and roles that
are consistent with the structures and norms of the ongoing society. Because the shared
values and norms, the institutions of the family, and the generally agreed-upon means for
accomplishing ends are functional for the operation of society as a system, societies and
political structures decay or atrophy when existing values and procedural norms of social
action and engagement fall apart or are severely anxious.

If we turn the pages of history, the world of 1945 i.e., post colonial world we can see only
those nations survived as an individual and embraced democracy which had educated elite
who could serve as a building block to democracy. The India, which we live in today incurs a
great debt for its survival and progress to the institutions which allowed effective integration
of a society divided on religious, lingual and regional caste lines through an education
stressing on universal humanistic values embedded in our constitution. Administration is the
concept on which any effective and efficient state rests and education is not only an elitist one
but a universal one, which allows administration to deliver whether in the framework of an
enlightened civil services working for democratic emancipation or through educated citizens
conscious of their duties and rights.

If we see the present nation, there is no better time than now for a realistic and optimistic
approach towards India and especially its education system. As time has passed and we are
citizen’s of 21st century let us evaluate and assess critically where we stand as a nation. We
have approached new millennium with the hope of fairer, peaceful, prosperous and educated
society. In recent history, our place in the company of developed nations seems much more
practical and achievable. The nation is making long strides in the areas of infrastructure and
economic development. In order to pave a path for better India, the government launched
schemes such as Digital India and Make in India, which requires a education system and for
movement like these a higher education system. The success rate of these programmes will
solely depend on the availability and commitment of the supremely talented and trained
human power. These reasons make the need of Education very crucial. Definitely, our
government is taking several initiatives to undermine the need and importance of research
and innovation in institutions of higher learning. In 2016, they announced the Institution of
Eminence scheme to make 10 private and 10 public universities world-class by providing
them much required autonomy and freedom to grow, develop and flourish in the next 10 to
15 years. The prime objective of the scheme is to provide institutes with complete academic,
financial, administrative and regulatory autonomy so as to raise their competitiveness to the
international level. All centrally-funded institutes and those in the private sector have the
opportunity to take part in this nation-building exercise.
The government has further planned for nation building and to lay foundation for higher
education that will provide student access to world class teaching methods and meet the
challenge of employment while focusing on inclusive education.

In conclusion, it is true that education is the root and building block for transforming the
society and for sustainable development. Education is the base of political and social
economy progress. It is hoped that in near future education will open gates for greater
technology and scientific transformation. It is basically the way we teach reflects the
changing requirement of contemporary lines. Concerning our nation digital technology needs
to take centre stage in the way educational process is transacted in universities as well as
home. So, with optimistic approach education can and will gain a wider acceptance to the
generality and Indian people.
