This manual was designed as an Addendum to the Seeker SPR Software Manual
Version 2.0 – Basic System.
Its primary focus is the GPS feature and will identify the differences in screen
displays and software functionality.
GPS Requirements
The GPS device that you are using must provide a NMEA String (GPGGA and
GPRMC).
You must first install a driver for the GPS device you are using.
Please consult the GPS Manual or the Manufacturer of the GPS device for these
requirements.
The GPS device must be positioned on top of the Antenna for optimal use.

About Licenses
Your Seeker SPR system is equipped with the GPS Software and requires an active
license key in order to function. The License Key may only be obtained from
SubSurface Imaging Systems, Inc.
If you know the license key, enter it in the white box then touch the Add button.
If the license key has been provided in a file, touch the Load From File button.
Using the Microsoft Windows File Manager, find and select the file called:
C:\Release\license.usl
When the License box displays, touch the Add button followed by the OK button.
An Overview
“Lat” indicates the latitude position. “Lng” indicates the longitude position.
Trigger Setup
The Trigger Setup for GPS is only available for use when the GPS is active and
connected.
The use of GPS Trigger is only advised if you have a high accuracy GPS or if
circumstances do not allow the use of Shaft Encoder mode or Timer mode. Due to
the drift of signal, low-grade GPS systems can trigger scans accidentally while
stationary.
Note: If HDOP value turns red, the GPS Trigger will not function (reference the
section below called “Precision Guide” under Settings.
There is a message window showing that GPS is Active. The GPS status will be
visible when monitoring a New Survey or recalling a saved survey.
When recording a file with an active GPS system, the coordinates are going to be
saved in a separate file for each scan recorded.
Settings
These values are not only used to set up the GPS device, but are also necessary to
ACTIVATE the GPS signal.
COM Port – Setting may vary depending on the GPS device you are using.
Note: For Controllers delivered prior to May 2011, the Serial Port is COM1.
For Controllers delivered after May 2011, the Serial Port is COM3. GPS
devices might also use the USB connection (requires drivers).
Baud Rate – Defaults to 4800 but could vary depending on the GPS device.
Start/Stop button – Touching this button when it displays “Start” will immediately try
to connect the GPS. Touching this button when it displays “Stop” will terminate the
GPS connection.
GPS Status – Once a connection is established, this window displays the GPS
coordinates and values. Course shows the course in degrees if you are moving,
otherwise this is a random value.
OK button – Remember to touch OK to save your settings and continue with the
GPS connection
Only survey files that have been saved with GPS coordinates will display these
coordinates when played back.
The GPS coordinates, displayed in the window above the data, relate to the position
of the arrow. When you touch an area of saved data, the coordinates will display the
GPS coordinate of the data that is being touched.
