Sustaining the Project after the Proposal Period

Student-created Weebly sites will be shared with the Iexplore teacher at Dysart

Elementary School. Iexplore teacher will use Weebly sites to inform next year's 5th and 6th-grade

students how they can make a positive impact online using their presence. This project will be
completed each year to ensure tips, tools, and techniques provided are up-to-date and that the

information is still relevant to student interests. This project will include other disciplines such as

the Iexplore class and other grade levels (5th and 6th). This project could also include disciplines

such as math to compute data, social studies to relate trends, and science to inform audiences on

adolescent brain functioning concerning online sites such as social media. The continuing of this

project-based lesson year after year will ensure learners are educated on their impact in the

community from their online presence. This will hopefully result in kinder interactions online

from the members of the community.

Innovation

In the twenty-first century, adolescents are closer to their phones than they are to their

families. One will not be successful in completely eradicating online interactions from

adolescents. Instead, one should focus on how online interactions can be used for good and

positive interactions that build a community up. Too often, social media, websites, etc. are

discussed in negative terms as if these tools only have bad consequences. This project challenges

that idea and equips adolescents with tools, tips, and techniques to ensure they are a positive

force online. Once students are aware of how they can help create a positive impact in their

community they are more likely to feel involved, supported, and cared for by their peers and

school which has been proven to be a strong correlating factor in student academic success.

Thus, student learning and mastery will be increased when a sense of community and school

climate is positive and supportive. This project has the added benefit of informing the teacher of

how their students interact with each other and student interests. This will aid the teacher in

ensuring lessons are current, interesting, and student-driven. Therefore, this project not only aids

in the cultivating of a positive community and school climate but it also allows for relationship
building between students and teachers and ensures lessons will be current and student interest-

driven.
