Date: 11-12-2019

Dear Chan,
My name is Duc Anh. I’m 18 years old. I am a student at Greenwich University.
And I come from Vietnam. I am writing this letter to you to talk about the
gestures and customs in Vietnam. And I hope you will come to Vietnam a soon.
I was wondering if you could come to Viet Nam sometime next week. I think I
want to meet you again in order to know more about Viet Nam which is known
with its rich culture, good food, beautiful landscape and especially friendly ,
hospitable people.
First of all, Vietnam is famous for its several holiday and festival, especially Tet
holiday. During Tet holiday, Vietnamese visit relative’s house and giving lucky
money is thought to bring children hope and health
Secondly , The Vietnamese generally are very polite to foreigners, especially
Americans. Even so in rural areas Vietnamese often stare at foreigners and
children shout Ong Tay (Mr. Westerner) and Ba Tay (Mrs. Westerner) that is
very interesting.
Beside that, I will talk to you some gestures in here, they will helpful for you to
easy talk with people. When a Vietnamese make a mistake, shouldn’t angry
when you complain to a Vietnamese. If you angry, you will take many problems
with him/her. Smile and say “It's okay/ I’m okay” is a another way for
complain. You will receive a smiling face and apology, maybe after that you
and him/her make friends. They smile because of they feel embarrassed and
mostly they don’t know how to respond.
In short, people here are very friendly, you shouldn’t worry a lot, relax! But
remember some tips I give you, it will be helpful. I hope you will come to
Vietnam soon. Welcome to VietNam.
And If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to let me know
I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards
Anh
