َّ ” “The Most Merciful( 1 ) Taught the Qur'an,” The Quraan; Ar-
Rahman 55/1,2
 The Merciful One who has as His attribute mercy.
 Allah’s mercy has preceded His anger and His mercy is clearly manifested in His
creation and in His servants’ hearts .
 The One possessing extensive mercy.
 Allah is more merciful than any of His creation – even more merciful than a
woman towards her child for example there is a hadeeth in Muslim and Bukhari
related by Umar ibn Khattab that there was a group of female captives with their
children who were brought before the Prophet following one of the battles and
one of these female captives was searching for her child and when she found
him she embraced him and began nursing him. The Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘Do
you think it is possible for this woman to throw her child in the fire?’ The
companions said ‘No, by Allah there is no possibility that she would do that.’ So
the Prophet (PBUH) said ‘Allah is more merciful towards His slaves than this
woman is towards her son.’
