• Preview Window- displays a playback of the clips or movie on your timeline. Also, when a clip is selected
in the Media Room, this panel will show you a preview of it. This panel is an option for setting the
quality level of your video playback. This feature can be accessed by right-clicking on the preview itself
or by clicking on the Preview Quality button, as illustrated above. Higher quality playback demands
more lowering the preview quality can often smooth your video’s playback.

• Rooms- the various “rooms” in PowerDirector are accessed by clicking the icons or tabs that run along
the upper upper left side of the interface library or a set of tools for working on a particular aspect of
your imovie.

ROOMS
1. The Media Room
• The media room is where you gather the video, audio, still photos, graphic and music that you
will use to create your movie.
• MEDIA is added to this room when you capture video from your camcorder or when you import
media files into your project that is already on your hard drive.

2. The Fx Room
• Includes a LIBRARY OF SPECIAL EFFECTS which you can add to your video.
• PowerDirector includes dozen of visual effects, which all can modified and customized for your
particular need.

3. The Pip Objects Room
• This includes numbers of COOL graphics .
• Many of them are ANIMATED— which can be OVERLAYED or added to your movie project.
• Also includes tools for creating your own artwork from an existing graphic or by creating
animation from scratch using the Paint Designer Workspace.
4. The Particle Room
• VERY HIGHT LEVEL SPECIAL EFFECTS
• Including light and lens flares, falling rain and snow, pixie dust, animated objects and cool
Science fiction and Outer Space effects.
• Will appear as three-dimensional when used in a 3D project.
5. The Title Room
• Includes nearly 100 customizable templates for creating titles and adding text to your movie.


6. The Transition Room
• Gives you access to a huge library of transition, including transitions which will look three-
dimensional when added to a 3D project.


7. Audio Mixing Room
• Includes tools for mixing the levels of your various audio tracks and for controlling your various
audio levels at precise points.
• Will look at how to use the controls in this room, as well as look at alternative ways to control
and mix your audio level sources.

8. The Voice-Over Recording Room
• This is where you’ll find the tools for recording narrations into your movie.


9. The Chapter Room
• Includes tools for adding scenes or chapters to your movie. Once these chapters have been
added to your movie, the program will be able to use them to set up links on your DVD and
BluRay menu that will allow your viewer to jump to specific spots in your movie.

10. The Subtitle Room
• Ability to add optional subtitles to your movie, subtitles that can be turned on and off at the
viewer’s discretion.

SONY VEGAS PRO
• Video editing software package for non-linear editing (NLE) originally published by Sonic
Foundry. Then by Sony creative.

o Main tool bar- It contains the frequently used command
o Normal edit tool- use to select, move and trim
o Shuffle tool- use to rearrange events on the timeline
o Slip tool- slip an event’s media without moving the event on the timeline.
o Slide tool- use to move an event on the timeline without moving the underlying media.
o Time stretch/compress tool- use to make events longer and shorter while changing the velocity of the
media to create fast-er slow-motion.
o Split trim tool- split an event at the point you click and trim the event in the direction you drag
(eraser mode)
o Envelope tool- designed to manipulate envelope in events. With envelope tool selected, you can add,
delete, select, and move envelope point, but events cannot be moved or edited.
o Selection tool- it is designed to select multiple events across tracker by drawing selection boxes
around the event you want to include.
o Zoom tool- used to change the magnification of the Vegas pro project.
o Scrubbing tool- use scrubbing to scroll playback of your project at varying speeds.
o Track list- it is a display of all the audio and video tracks in your project and contains the master
controls for each tracks.
o Time ruler- displays the time in the format you select. Located above the timeline.
o Window docking area- it is used to keep frequently used windows available, but out of the way while
you are working with the project.

§ Split- You can use it to quickly split a video clip into two segments, and then keep or remove one of
them.
