Critical Reflection 3

Most cities around the world do not think about the environment when building

industries. All they care about is money. They care about how much their business is making or

not making, and that is sad. Our society is consumed with people who only care about

materialistic things. Our Earth is slowly being killed and we really are not doing much about it. I

cannot say much due to the fact that I am just as guilty as every other person, but we as a society

really need to do something about it.

Chattanooga used to be one of the dirtiest cities in the nation due to pollution. There are

many urban legends about the city because of this; Such as, men had to bring an extra white

button down shirt because it was black by lunch time. Another common saying is that if you

were to drive through Chattanooga, you had to have your headlights on, even during the daytime.

After a while of this, someone decided to take a stand, and now Chattanooga is known for being

one of the cleanest cities nationwide.

Honestly, I applaud the people of Chattanooga for seeing that there was a problem and

doing something about it instead of just complaining and letting it get worse. I think that the

industry used to be the problem for Chattanooga’s environmental issues, but now I would say

that Chattanooga is honestly a city other cities should want to be like it. They disliked something

and they did something about it.
