Teaching Philosophy Statement

As a Special Education teacher, I believe that all children are unique and have something

special that they can bring to their own education. I believe that every child can learn and that

every student learns in a different way and at their own pace, but all can learn and should be

treated with dignity and respect.

I believe as educators we should teach more than just academic skills. Being a Special

Education teacher with a small class size, I am able to connect on a personal level with my

students. I also incorporate Social Emotional Learning (SEL) into my curriculum.

Every classroom is unique. My role will be to help each child be their best by using

teaching strategies that will include hands-on learning, group activities, computer-based

programs, and individual work to engage each student. I will also make learning content relevant

to my students lives.
