MICROSOFT AND ITS ETHICAL CODE OF CONDUCT AND BUSINESS PRACTICES

Microsoft Corporation is one of the leading multinational technology firms which provides
computer solutions, develops licenses and sells software, electronics, personal computers
and related technological services. The company is best known for providing user friendly
computer software and one of the world’s most famous operating system- Windows.

The mission of the organisation revolves around the empowerment of every individual and
organisation on the planet in order to push them to achieve more than they believe they
can.

The core values that the company abides by are Respect, Integrity, Trust and
Accountability.
Trust and integrity are the two values that have been the driving force of the company’s
success. The top brass and the employees of the organisation carry the belief that the way
forward to achieve their mission is through trust-building. The goals set forth are only
possible when there is an overall feeling of trust, trust on the technology provided, trust
between the customers and company and trust amongst the employees themselves. The
key is to build strong and lasting relationships inside and outside of the walls of the
company.

The organisation’s commitment towards doing good for the society and maintaining their
corporate social responsibility and integrity is the guiding light for all the work done as a
firm and is the foundation of their ethics and compliance program. The high ethical
standards set by the firm dictate the way they work as well apply to their business partners
and supplier teams.

Microsoft has a Standards of Business Conduct which has been drafted around their core
value of trust. The firm believes that trust is the most important aspect of all operations
with its stakeholders. The code of conduct also lays down certain rules by which an
employee should behave. It lays down the procedure to be followed incase of any discord or
ethical violation by any person in the organisation.

Due to its strict ethical standards and business practices, Microsoft has been listed as one of the
world’s most ethical companies and has retained that position for the past 8 years.

The strong core values and high moral and ethical standards are one of the very important reasons
why Microsoft is one of the leading multinational corporations in the world.
